Clutch pedal straight to the floor

Yes its happened to me. Its not the clutch I am sure, as I have drive. But the pedal (bite ) got worse and worse over 20 mins and now I cant change gear without crashing the box or doing the getting revs just right thing. Have not looked at the car yet, but I think its the MC. Is the metal MC the best cure?
