CD43 stereo - media input

In my MGF I have the factory fitted CD43 (blaupunkt?) stereo. It looks the same as the BMW Business unit. It works really well, however I would like to add aux or usb playback to it.



I am currently working on using a raaspberry-pi to perform 2 functions:

- Fool the stereo in to thinking it has a CD changer attached (I-bus protocol via RS232)

- Play MP3 files and output them to the audio in, cd changer socket



Has anyone done anything like this before? Also I need a "timed off" relay - so that when I take the key out of the ignition, the pi has a couple of minutes to shut down. Suggestions welcomed :D
