Fuel Gauge

Hi all,

Is it normal for the fuel gauge on a TF to read the level of fuel even with the ignition off?

Picked up my 03 1.8 cool blue last week. Put half a tank of fuel in and noticed when the ignition is off gauge still reads. The pleasing thing was after a weekend driving around Wales then driving home and a week of running about I still have a quarter of a tank.
