MG ZT 1.8t PRT upgrade question.
I have two MG ZT 1.8t. One has the PRT fitted in the cooling system whilst the other has its Thermostat in the original location behind the engine close to the Water Pump. I prefer the system with the PRT.
So what do I need to 'upgrade' the one ZT to the PRT system ?
Making my weekly visit to my favourite Car Breaker yard, the one my father first took me to when I was a small schoolboy in the 1950s ... ... I found a Rover 75 1.8 freshly arrived and parts Vultures ( like me ... :) ) had hardly touched the car. Just the two front Alloy Wheels removed as were the twin coil packs. Lifting the bonnet I was pleased to see the car was fitted with the PRT cooling system. Got the forklift operators there to hoist the car up so that I could place two steel wheels under each side of the car under the two front jacking points. That provided ample space access and a safe working environment under the car.
Even with most of my extensive toolkit in my car, I couldn't work fast it was far too hot. Beautiful warm sunny day in fact. So, spent the next couple of hours carefully removing lots of useful bits at a leisurely pace. These included the complete PRT Coolant Hose Assembly and the Turbocharger which had slight radial wear in the turbine shaft. There were no signs at all of Oil in the Turbocharger or the various Intercooler hoses I removed. The top Radiator Hose had been cut ( to allow fluid removal as per H and S environment stuff ) close to the Coolant Outlet Elbow on the front right of the Exhaust Manifold. I wish they would not do that and simply release a lower hose clip to remove 'harmful' fluids. I would have had that Top Hose as it was in perfect used condition prior to being cut. They are over hundred quid new!
Anyway, now to my question. Have a look at this image and let me know if I need anything more to upgrade the non-PRT car to the PRT system. Keep in mind I have all the other good hoses etc from the car which is in running order.
Would appreciate any help and advice particularly from "been there, done that" DIY enthusiasts. Here's the PRT Hose Assembly. I also obtained most of the useful bits from the Top Hose as they may come in handy. Thanks in advance :~
