Water in near side rear passenger footwell
Hi,
I've heard and read a lot on this forum regarding rainwater entering the front passenger and drivers side , FRONT footwell . This appears to be a common problem, due often to blocked sunroof drain holes or blocked or broken/ parted discharge pipes from same.
My Rover 800 Coupe is suffering something quite different , in that rain or wash water is entering the near side REAR passenger footwell and making the carpet soggy. It dries out only to get wet again when it rains or I wash the car. The water must be getting in presumably from the side window or side trim , but obviously there are other potentials
Water is not visible from above or from the side of the vehicle inside . Like most Rover 800s . I also had a wet boot but have resolved this by usual methods of sealing the rear boot seal
I've never had this particular issue with my Rover 800 and all my cars including this one have been Rover 800 coupes ie the 2 door with the fixed rear seat and leather upholstery.
Any ideas - does the sunroof have just 2 front drain holes or are there 2 rear ones that are not visible too. If so , do they have drain pipes running down to the sills like the front ones. ?
Any ideas from owners who have had this problem and cured it, gratefully received. The plush trim makes it difficult to see whats going on.
The only pointer is a little bit of dirt or perhaps mould /mildew on the trim on the centre window upright trim finisher on this side of the car, but its not wet so may be a red herring
All the other carpets and footwells are bone dry
regards
