rover 214 camper car!
Hello all,
Just found this site while looking for info on re upholstering door cards.
Figured I would share my story
My name is Jamie, my wife and I are from new Zealand 6 months ago we headed to London looking for a vehicle to travel around Europe in.
After a nightmare with a opel Astra estate (cambelt snapped the day after we got it) we ended up with a mint little 1999 rover 214i 16v with two owners the last of which had it for 14 years, a meticulous service record no faults and only 44,000 miles on the clock!
With a bit of thought, basic hand tools and a little cash we managed to fit a folding bed in the back without sacrificing the rear seats, we added a second battery and a roof box and presto our tiny camper was born!
So far we have put just over 14,000 miles on it with no real dramas (we have replaced the battery and changed oil)
It was certainly not the vehicle we had in mind but the condition tempted us and cheap insurance was the deal maker
We love our little rover!!!
I'm trying to put up photos but although they are resized and in jpeg the uploader is spitting them back
I'll keep trying
Cheers!
Jamie
