through the mill with an mg tf cooling system!
hello folks!
so here is the saga of my TF 135! hoping you guys can give me some advice on it, I'm handy with cars, but have no experience of the K-series (give me and a-series and I know it like the back of my hand!)
I bought a lovely TF 135 from a trader back in June and got a 3 month warranty on it, pretty much straight away i noticed it was losing coolant, and was looking a bit gunky in the oil and water tanks, not masses but it was there. I contacted the dealer and he arranged for it to be fixed by the garage who do all his servicing and repair work.
all good.
After a week the car came back having had a new HG, cambelt, water pump, head pressure tested and skimmed etc etc, basically the list of things he quoted at me seemed to make me think it had all been done by the book. However, it was still losing coolant so back in it went.
a fortnight later it came home again, having had a weeping water pipe tightened up, hooray! all good, I thought....
Again, I noticed it was still losing water, they had it back, gave it a good look over, flushed everything through again and a fortnight later they gave it back to me promising everything was A OK.
Well, just over a week later, the car is still losing water gradually, I've tried a new expansion cap to no avail and I can find no signs of external leaks anywhere, no puddles, staining or wetness, and the oil and coolant still look clean, with no performance symptoms of anything amiss. Could all this be down to needing re-bleeding? Or should the air have all worked its way out long before now? I was told the car had been bled through, and the heater was set to full on when I got the car back so I imagine it's true, but from what I can gather sometimes it needs another attempt at it?
I'm kinda at the end of my tether with the whole situation if I'm honest! haha
