cup holder repair

Dont know if its helpfull but was doing a repair on my cup holder and came across some interesting things.

Once you remove the cassette holding the whole unit (small flat head screwdriver into the small hole lower right side of the unit)

If your mechanisim is working but your holder arms are broken you can just change the holder arms bit and face plate as there is a square cover plate that houses a nylon pin and spring which holds it to the unit.

Take the pin out and the whole arms part comes off.

As I couldn't get a new cup holder unit in walnut anymore,Rimmers only had ones for the ZT.Got the new unit and swapped over the silver front cover plate (just clips off) for the walnut one and alls good.

remove the square plastic plate to enable to front arms part to be removed.

Another weak point is the pin that holds the unit in the dash.

It gets worn and either wont lock in and hold or wont unlock when you press in.

Theres a small pin which locks and unlocks (moves) a nylon locking plate.

I ended up getting a soldering iron and getting a pin and heating the pin so it melted into the nylon and just set it at the same height as the original nylon pin.Works a treat and definately wont break!!..
