Is my dipstick indicating head gasket failure?
MGTF 160
This morning my dipstick showed a light coffee creamy texture on the 'blob' at the end of the stick. The rest of the way up to the level the oil was the normal dark brown. Then a gap with nothing for a couple of inched then about 2 inches of sponge like coffee coloured foam towards the top of the dipstick.
The coolant goes down about 1cm to 2cm each month which I top up regularly.
The engine has been running ok apart from a slight intermittent extra metallic stuttering sound when started from cold which soon disappears after a few seconds.
I plan on taking it to the garage as my knowledge base is low and my practical knowledge even lower.
Is a HGF likely?
