LE500 Reverse Parking Sensors

i have read on here already that the le500 parking sensors are somewhat finicky. mine were always ok, except for when they get wet and just beep continuously instead of the usual beepbeepbeep. just recently though, they don't always engage when i select reverse and also the reversing lights don't illuminate on those occasions either.



does anyone know what mechanism activates the reversing lights/sensors and where to check - is it a swtch at the gear lever, or an ecu thing, or something else? it's an intermittent fault so sometimes they work, which suggests to me that it's a connection somewhere rather than a fuse. but i'm speculating wildly as i have no idea.



any thoughts?
