Frankenpump - Hydragas on a budget

Just for giggles, here's a picture of my home made hydragas pump. Works quite well..

The pump itself is a hydrostatic test pump. I got it cheap, meaning I bought a broken one and then regretted it. Seriously though, they are strong pumps. This one is technically only rated to 300 psi, but there is another model that is essentially the same pump but with stronger pipe work rated to 1000 psi. Anyway, since the gauge went to 600 psi I thought I'd give it a go..

The yellow hose is the CO2 line used in paint-guns.. It's rated to 2000 psi from memory and was "cheap". Other possible sources of cheap high pressure hosing include those industrial steam cleaners.

The funky low-loss connector that you screw on to the was "expensive" but is very well made.

The plastic reserviour is a cup I nabbed from the cupboard when my wife wasn't looking. I simply drilled a 1 inch hole in the base and forcefully "tapped" it on to a 1 inch brass elbow. It leaked a bit, so I bunged it up with windscreen sealant.
