Changing headlight bulb on MG6

My driverside dipped beam bulb has failed. I managed remove the rubber dust cap & then with some blood I managed to extract the connector and the old bulb, refit the bulb, fasten in in place and when putting the connector with the wires on it slipped from my fingers and has disappeared. I assume it has fallen down into the headlamp assembly, which seems to be a hollow black box on the engine compartment side of the headlight module. Any ideas how to get it back? I fear I will have to take out the headlights assembly. Anyone know how do you do that? I don't need to remove the bumper do I? I hope not.
