Fuel Consumption

Have noticed a 10% increase in fuel consumption during the last few months. Perhaps it's just because the weather's colder, but surely can't be all due to having the headlights on a bit more often. Most of my driving is 30 to 60 mile runs, with the odd five mile trip, so the car usually gets well warmed up. Any suggestions as to possible mechanical faults that could cause this increase? I did wonder about brake binding but they're ok.
