Hatch Boot Light Help

I'm slowly working through the never ending issues with my car, The Boot light has never worked!



Last week I managed to take a look at it and what I think I have found is that the wire that goes from the light to the switch (I think this grounds to make the light work) in the boot lid is broken.



I just want to make sure I am correct the 12v + is always present on the bulb and the circut is made when the other end grounds out on the switch.
