door ratatatatle!!

have had this annoying [drivers] door rattle since I got the car in december last year, my drivers side window mech wasnt right so I opened the door up the other day and sorted that out, could not see anything amiss so I thought the rattle might have gone at the same time.



nope!!



its a tinny rattle, pressing the door card in doesnt help, pressing the lock pin down doesnt help, pulling door handles dont help



so I opened the door again today for another look, the door handle and lock rods arent touching anything [metal to metal], I cant replicate the rattle in any way, the lock shield thing seemed a bit loose, so I put some small bore [vacuum pipe off a carb car] rubber tube split down its length down the back of the shield where it touches the door skin to try and see if that was the fault, I also slightly bent the shield so it sits firmly against the door skin [hard to explain and I forgot to get a pic] I did wonder about taking the shield out altogether but I could not get the window runner out that its attached to.



gave the lock mechanism a spray of some silicone oil too



built it back up [putting door card back on easier now!] and went for a drive, rattle still there!!!





any suggestions?
