Newbie Car viewing update-advise please!

mg tf 135 2003 2004 models.

Viewed a couple of cars at the weekend.

One was ok, but not that well looked after, and a few issues so walked away.

Second one was very good condition been well looked after and good history.

My only great concern was when I examined the engine oil and cooling.

The car was an 03 with lowish mileage, the coolant level was fine but clear, just water .Looked like no ant freeze had been used at all. I was expecting it to be coloured. The texture of the water was slightly oily, and the cap inner top had a slight whitish covering. The bottom of the expansion tank looked to have slight brownish staining.

On removing the dip still the oil was blackish rather than golden, but at the end of the dip stick was a Blop of white/cream coloured liquid .

The cars history is mainly short trips- up to 5-10 miles during the week.

Just wonder what your thoughts are as other wise the car was fine.

Is this the possible start of hgf or just a sign the car does get driven enough to get the engine up to a good temperature .

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
