Help! Clutch Knackered?

Morning all



My clutch has started intermittently slipping,

It's worst in 2nd or 3rd at around 2500rpm, put it under load and the revs just go up and no more power is deployed.

Got quite bad last night driving home from the local petrol station.



HOWEVER, it is intermittent, for example, slipped a little friday afternoon... Saturday did a 40 mile round trip and it was totally fine... Drove it to the petrol station last night... fine... Driving the 1 mile home... Slipping like crazy.



Got in the car for work this morning, first 7 miles, slipping... last 5 miles... perfectly fine?!



So before i splash out and get a new clutch fitted, is there anything else i should check first?

as i thought if clutch was dead? it would be slipping ALL the time
