VVC trapping noise

I think it's time for the garage as the engine sounds like a diesel. I know it's common for the vvc cams to tap but this is quite load, embarrassing, and annoying.



Am I right in saying the vvc cams has a lot of ware and movement coursing the tapping noise? Does it harm the engine?



I'm guessing it would mean changing the cams? Does anyone know roughly the cost at an mg specialist?
