Rover 25 coolant leak

I know you're probably all thinking 'oh, not one of these again', but never mind!

Basically, my trusty old 2001 Rover 25 has been losing coolant recently. I've kept a lookout for the warning signs of the dreaded head gasket failure, and haven't noticed any, and the car has been fine apart from needing the coolant topping up a couple of times a week.

I'm due to take it to the garage when o manage to get chance, but today I finally managed to catch a puddle beneath the engine area - roughly below the same area as the oil dipstick.

I've not actually seen it drip though, and from looking around online I believe this is the area that a water pump leak would occur - is this the likely culprit?

HGF would be a disaster as I doubt I could afford that expense and would probably have to replace the vehicle with something cheaper (which invariably ends up being more expensive in the long run).
