Question about alarm in connection with battery drain

Hi there,

I have a battery drain on my 97 MGF.
I measure close on 0.5A permanent drain which I read here somewhere can be caused by the wiring loom in the boot amongst other things.
The post said that the problem with the loom caused the alarm to go off when the boot was opened with the key.
I have this problem too, so my question is, when the alarm is set, should the alarm go off when the boot is opened by the key?
