Which oil filter wrench, Rover 25?

I have an oil leak which I may have traced to the oil filter area.

First job, of course, is to check it's tightly screwed in place.

I see oil filter wrenches advertised but don't know which to buy.

Do I even need one or can I tighten enough by hand or via another tool in my shed?

Could the filter be cross-threaded, is that quite easy to do as it can be when fitting spark plugs?

Is it easy to over-tighten, either by hand or with a tool?

So many questions, so little knowledge.

Any wisdom available for me, please?
