Petrol smell around the car
My project car is now sat outside following a recent house move, the garage being full of unpacked boxes. Today as I was gardening, as you have to do, I could smell petrol all around the car. Keeping in mind it hasn't run for months, and err... months, I was a bit surprised.
Well it turned out to be the sun heating up the car and expanding the vapour in the petrol tank which pushed petrol out of the disconnected fuel line into the engine bay!
When I removed the petrol cap there was a long whoosh as the pressure was released and again when I did it later in the day. In the end I decided to remove the rubber seal from the petrol cap to vent the pressure whilst being able to keep the cap locked in place to stop dirt and rain getting in.
...now where did I put that rubber seal for safe keeping?:shake:
