Blow out proof TF Replacement??????????????
As you probably know from my posts we do much European touring in the TF & we are both well the wrong side of 65.
Coming back from Italy in July in really hot weather we felt the need for air con as well as "feeling the noise" & the firm suspension in the TF on a long autoroute run. Made us wonder if the time had come to get something more refined.
It must be a convertible. It must also carry as much holiday luggage or golf gear as a TF, out of sight of possible thieves, with the roof down, & also have a spare wheel in case of a blow out far from home.
Don't want a barge so full four seater convertibles such as Saab 93, Merc CLK, VW Eos, were out of the question.
Started to look at cars such as: Z3, SLK, 939 Alfa Spider, Audi TT Mk 2, etc.
Many failed the golf bag & trolley test & were immediately dismissed.
Seriously considered the TT when I discovered that the VW golf spare wheel & jack will fit, even though Audi's official line is no spare just an inflator. Then I had a think: What if the boot is full & there is someone in the passenger seat & you have a blow out? Change wheel: No problem. Where to put much wider wheel you have taken off: Nowhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The TT isn't the only car to do this. What a farce you can only have a blow out if the boot is empty or in you have no passenger!
So far only two cars might be suitable:
Alfa Spider: Could just about put changed wheel in space behind seats.
The other, bit of a surprise here, was the Peugeot 207cc!!!
I suppose I could take up hairdressing or has anyone got any other suggestions?
