Facelift Rover 25 MoT Failure on Rear Brake Lights Resolved
Hi Everyone, I thought I would share my recent problems with my sons 55 reg. Rover 25. I took it for MOT yesterday not expecting any problems as it only has 33000 miles on the clock. The garage failed the car due to the rear fog lights not working. I was told it was most likely to be the switch.
I located one on Ebay, but was advised that it would unlikely solve the problem. Playing safe I ordered it anyway and had it delivered this morning. As predicted the problem was not solved. The seller did however tell me it was most likely to be the relays in the Pektron SCU box.
Last night I researched this out and found that the Pektron SCU has 5 relays each controlling up to two items, including the horn and fog lights on one, Front & rear Washer pumps; Electric Windows; Central Locking; and the Intermittent wiper (which was also not working on the car) along with the Super Lock relay.
I found out that it is best to replace all 5 relays to avoid future problems.
My searching took me to Remobilise Ltd based near Swansea, only 30 miles from me. www.remobilise.co.uk Kevin was extremely helpful and booked me in for repairs today. I can only say that Kevin is an absolute wizard with electronics and did a fantastic job with refurbishing the SCU. Not only that, he was very reasonably priced, and from my experience highly recommended.
So now the car went through the MOT and the wipers are working properly again, all of which did not break the bank!
