Creaking Clutch Pedal

While stuck in heavy traffic a couple of days ago, my clutch pedal started creaking and juddering.

Otherwise, it still works correctly, the biting point is unchanged, and the clutch itself is not slipping. So, I'm inclined to think that something needs greasing. The question is what?

A quick search on the internet confirms that I'm on the right track, but similar symptoms seem to have a variety of causes. The only agreement I could find was that lithium grease was good for a year or so (while WD40 was good for a few says).

I have an iffy neck and hate working in confined spaces, or in poor light. I'm also away from home right now, so all suggestions will be welcome.
