MG TF roof differences

Hi all,

Firstly please excuse the ignorance of a newbie,

I was recently given a 52 plate MG TF when the previous owner lost heart at having his soft top sliced in two by a random toe rag!!

Anyway I managed to obtain a replacement roof from a reputable breakers complete with glass screen still on the frame.

Went out to swap them today and removing the original roof went well enough until it came to swapping them

The new roof is on what appears to be an entirely different frame. Instead of 2 catches at the windscreen to hold the roof down, the new one has a single catch in the middle. The rear mountings also seem to be much wider than the original.

I looked on rimmer bros at the parts catalogue and they seem to show the new style roof with the single catch.

A couple of questions - when did the roof change from double catches to a single? And probably more importantly, now I have both roofs sitting in the garage ( I luckily got a hardtop too!) - is there any way I can swap bits over to make the new roof work? Are the clips etc. Changeable or am I wasting my time thinking of that?
