possible floppy door trim fix

possible floppy door trim fix

Quite by accident I came across a possible fix to the floppy door trim issues. This even extend to the headlining as well but you would still need to remove it from the car.
I happen to leave a door trim panel outside that had a loose floppy cloth trim on it and it ended up getting wet.
The panel was laying on its back with the cloth side up.
We then had a hot dry day and low and behold after it had dried the cloth panel was stuck back to the door panel.
Just to check it was actually not a fluke, I got another floppy door panel and wet it face up,drained the excess water off, got a plastic bag with some sand in it to press form into the shape of the contours.
Came back later and yes it was stuck back to the door card as new !!!!
I think the reason these cloth trim panels go floppy over time is maybe the glue MGR used may have been a water based glue and over time and humidity it lets go.
I kn ow when I have done re trims on the door panels I have used water to remove the orange tacky glue.
Anyway, not sure how long the fix will last but at this time its stuck pretty well again to the door card without having to do a re trim.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
