Broken driveshaft ABS reluctor ring
Just wondering if any of you guys can help me out with a quandary?
I had to replace the gearbox driveshaft oil seals yesterday, and whilst doing it i also decided to pit the Apex springs i've ad sitting in the boot for the last few weeks.
Anyway cut a long story short, i managed to knock the ABS reluctor ring off the driveshaft, turned out it was split anyway. Now the confusing thing for me is that my car in both its previous incarnation and its current one (Its been reshelled) has never had ABS, there is no ABS pump under the bonnet. On the O/S front wheel it has what looks like an ABS sensor, and all the wiring. There is nothing on the N/S. I came to the conclusion it must have something to do with the speedo as there is nothing in the Haynes manual and i cant find anything online either.
Anyway not having a spare CV with said reluctor ring on i just put it back together expecting the speedo not to work. Speedo works fine, no warning lights on at all, no fault codes in the ecu and the car drives the same as it did before. I have ordered a new relector ring but to be honest is there any point in fitting it as it never seemed to do anything in the first place.
Exactly what is the o/s sensor and ring on the O/S driveshaft there for as from what i can see it does nothing?
Thanks
