mgzs td

hi im new to mg cars but just bought a 2003 plate mgzs td it runs ok but there is like a knocking sound on tickover but when accelerate it goes away , but when you pull up it comes back could it be diesel pump and how do i test this thanks, i like the car it is the mg blue but where can i find colour code thanks again
