Intermittent rev loss

I have a 1990 820i with the M series engine, multipoint injection, and for some time it suddenly starts trying to cut out, the rev counter needle can be seen to fluctuate wildly. This can occur while driving along or when stationary, generally once the engine has warmed up and may carry on for for several minutes before returning to normal. I have the Fast Check diagnostic tests for the stepper motor, ignition and fuel ecu and they all show passes for the various sensors. I have recently fitted a new ignition switch and both the ignition and fuel ecu's so these can be ruled out. Does anyone have any idea what this might be caused by? It happens virtually every time I take the car out. Thanks, Paul

2002 MG TF Orange Grove Very Rare 40K - £1500

I have for sale a 52 plate MG TF in Orange Grove, which is a Monogram Special Option colour.

Only 23 TFs were made in this colour.

This car was originally a Stepspeed but I bought it with a snapped timing belt.

I replaced the engine and box, ECU, loom, 5AS, etc with replacements from a 36k mile 2005 TF 135 and converted the car to manual, changing the pedal box and gear lever assembly.

The car has cloth interior in very good condition and the hood is also very good.

Has front fogs and a Sony CD player.

Comes with 12 months MOT.

Genuine 40k miles from new and in excellent order.

15" 6 spoke wheels with matching Continental tyres all round with 4-6mm of tread.

Looking for £1500, no offers.

Priced for quick sale. Huge bargain for a nice car in a stunning and very rare colour.

Discount MG Rover Spares - caveat emptor.

I'd like to share my experience of dealing with Discount MG Rover Spares, http://www.dmgrs.co.uk. I've seen a lot of good reports about this operation on this forum but my first and only experience has been unsatisfactory.

What follows is a statement of fact and is without prejudice.

I ordered some brake discs and a breather hose from DMGRS on 7th September. I got an order confirmation e-mail by return but with no anticipated delivery information.

The discs arrived on 12th September but there was no sign of the hose nor any word as to when it might be expected. The discs were fine and have been fitted. The breather hose item was printed on the paper delivery note but had been scribbled out.

After chasing on 16th September, DMGRS told me via e-mail that stock of the hoses was "held up by customs".

A further chase resulted in another e-mail on 21st September saying that the hoses "are coming direct from MG, and we've had a bit of a delay with the delivery".

The hose arrived unexpectedly on 22nd September. Despite being sold as an "MG Original Part" it didn't fit, one end of the hose having a fitting which physically won't fit into the throttle body receptacle.

There has been no reply to three subsequent e-mails (the first including photographs of the original hose and the defective replacement). I still have the hose and have since ordered another one from a well-known X-part supplier.

DMGRS has no telephone number published and their preferred method of communication is via e-mail. In my transaction there was no notification of expected delivery date, nor of items being despatched nor of items that are currently unavailable.

I shall not be purchasing again from this trader. Caveat emptor.

Andrew

MG ZT Car to Car Stowbar Swap.

Today I was mostly ... out in the warm sunshine doing this ...

Fitted the complete STOWBAR Assembly to my XPG MG ZT after removing it from my other ZT. Gave it a coat of Smooth Black Hammerite Gloss for added protection against corrosion after some wire brush preparation. Came up like new. Well pleased with the result. I have fitted Tow Bars to all my cars. Rarely use them but, when I do so glad to have them available.

Powerwash after bumper removal. Dislike working with dirty components.

Freshly painted all ready to fit. Both main mounting brackets already fitted and bolted into their chassis tube location. Two sets of 19mm Bolts.

All fitted and nicely bolted up :~

Close view of Stowbar in place.

General view of Stowbar attachment in place. It is quickly detachable so can be "Stowed" ... now there's a thing.... :)

Note: I took a specimen of each of the corroded mounting bolts and nuts round to South West Fasteners in Gloucester. Very helpful chap sorted me out some nice shiney new ones ~ charged me only three quid. Delighted with that as I was all set up to refurbish the old ones using a wire brush in an electric drill.

Will come in handy one day ~ they always do. Not long ago phone call from son #1..

Crank position sensor on ZS180: where is it?

Hi,

Feeling a bit daft asking this, but where is the crank sensor? I just can't see it! From descriptions, it should be on the front of the engine/gearbox near the radiator.

I can only see two sensors: 1) sitting under the clutch slave cylinder. Thought this was it until looking through Haynes manual I realised it was the reversing switch! 2) a blue sensor but sits under the front bank head, next to the manifold. Is this it?? Surely not, as it is pointing away from the crank! Picture attached of this one-you can see the radiator and the manifold pipe with the blue switch next to the heat shield. I've seen it written that the crank sensor can get contaminated by the clutch, so this can't be it, it seems too far away!

If it isn't this, where is it?? Pictures would be a great help if anyone has one!

Thanks'

problematic stepspeed B***h of a car :-( ....

This car is ending my life :bored:

It has recently developed another issue this one though is a little more of an issue than a little lumpy idle or a smell of petrol......

I have noticed when cold there is this awful issue with breaking. It is a stepspeed and the only way I can explain it is just before I come to a stop the car lunges forward. It feels like it may be going from second, staying in second for too long and then slams out down to 1st creating this massive jolt which at times nearly puts me on the bumper of cars in front. Once the cars warm this is does not happen though!!!

Anyone experienced this? It has a refurbed gearbox replaced back in Feb this year at MGOC workshop.

I have such bad luck with used cars. I was going to get it booked in after my wedding to get the idle looked at but this has popped up now and I have a feeling its going to be an expensive garage trip :-(

214 SI fuel supply problem

Hello

I am new to the forum and new to Rover cars, so thank you in advance for any help you may give me. I've worked on my carburettor fueled 40 year old motorcycle for the last 20 years, but fuel injection and engine management systems are all new to me.

I bought a 1992 K reg 214 Si last week. 60,000 miles, recent new head gasket, SPI and catalyst.

It had been dry stored for six years after my friend's father passed away. Two years ago it was recommissioned for a relative, who then changed their mind. The work done was a new head gasket and middle exhaust box and it went through an MOT test.

When I collected it last week, we put a new battery and half a tank of fuel in it (1/4 in there already) and it started and ran beautifully - for the first 30 miles - then, after decelerating down a hill for a junction, the car stalled and would only re-start briefly, but as soon as the accelerator pedal was released it would stall again. After a few tries, the engine would crank freely, but would not fire. I called out the AA - their man tested for spark and said that the distributor and rotor needed replacing. He found that the rotor was was siezed onto the cam nose, so he towed me home.

After a couple of days I was able to take the time to cut the rotor off and replace it and the distributor cap. There is now spark, but the engine doesn't catch or fire.

Yesterday I removed the fuel filter, petrol dribbled out, but not under any pressure, so I attached a hose to the fuel filter inlet, ran it into a bucket and cranked the engine. About an 8th of a pint of fuel ran out of the pipe and then stopped. This happens every time you turn the ignition key off and on.

I blew through the fuel filter and despite the fuel coming out being dirty, there was no real resistance. The spark plugs looked good - tan and in good condition, but no evidence of any fuel having got to them.

I then poured neat petrol into the throttle butterfly housing and turned the ignition. The car starts and runs really nicely and evenly for a few seconds before the fuel is used up.

From looking at the haynes manual, I've located the intertia fuel cut-out switch and pressed it in (not sure if it was triggered), this made no difference, now I am going to have a look at the fuel pump relay.

If you have any suggestions, I would be really grateful to hear them.

Many thanks

Sam

Hello

I bought a 214 Si last week. It belonged to the father of a friend, and is a 1992 K reg with 60,000 miles, SPI and catalyst. It has been garaged it's entire life so far and only has one visible patch of rust on the roof at the top of the windscreen seal. The head gasket was replaced two years ago.

I have a problem with fuel supply and will post that on the 200 forum page.

Until the fuel problem happened, it ran like a top and I am really pleased with it.

So i have around 600 pound to buy a new car i am stuck between a pug 206 1.4 lx 2001 with 110k on or a MG ZR 1.4 2004 with 71k on both the same price the pug has 11 owners the mg has 8 my mum has a mg the diesel version and has had it for 8 years with no problems not even a cam belt change. So there was me ringing the guy up who was selling the mg and told him ill pick it up tomorrow due to thinking rovers are god due to the 8 year thing. I have googled MG ZR 1.4 and all ive seen is head gasket problems. The guy im buying it off buys and sells cars for a living and has it since june.I have been told by friend that the only problem is the head gaskets but if u let the car warm up before putting your foot down its all good.

Are these cars that bad ?? What should i check for tomorrow before i buy ? oil and water for signs of head problems ? overheating ?Maybe check the service history if it has any to see what these 8 owners have done ? It has just passed a mot with "nothing wrong"

Looked under the bonnet and the injector pump belt has snapped, ripping the plastic casing around it.

Belts are only around 2yrs - 30,000 easy motorway miles.

Any ideas what could have caused it, car has done 127K miles, could the pump have just worn and seized causing the snap?

Are these easy/cheap to replace?

Considering selling it as it is as I have a company car anyway so it's not like a necessity as such

Cam Belt/Tensioner/Water Pump changing question

Evening all.

For a change I'm actually going to ask a technical engine related question

I'm thinking about changing the cam belt, tensioner and water pump (as well as a general all round service), but due to the limited access was wondering if I should call someone in to do this? I'm not useless with the spanners and am quite able to follow instructions and do a good job, I'm just concerned that it could prove problematic due to access.

Don't get me wrong it's not the filters and plugs side of it, just the cam belt, tensioner and pump.

Is it a straight forward job to do? Or is it best left to the experts?

I'm thinking one of the recommended mobile mechanics, if anyone knows of one that covers South Lincolnshire?

Also, if I did use a mechanic, would it be prudent for me to obtain the parts (genuine MG) or let them supply them?

Thanks in advance for any (constructive) input

Dave

AP Caliper refurb experiences

I've recently refurbed my AP callipers...not the seals coz they seem to be fine and the callipers worked well..but everything else.

Thought I'd share the edited highlights..

1. I split the callipers so it would be easier to extract the wear plate screws. This is normally not a good thing to do coz most callipers share the brake fluid internally via O ringed sealed passage ways which can be difficult to reseal. That isn't the case with the AP callers. Brake fluid on these is shared using an external pipe which uses normal compression fittings and is easy to remove and replace.

2. The old wear plate screws were sods to remove.. Of the 8 screws only 3 were removed using an allen key...2 had to be removed using a hammer and centre punch and the rest were extracted using a T27 Torx head hammered into the soft mild steel. All the screws seemed to be cemented in using copious amounts of red Loctite which supposedly only softens using heat. I didn't use heat..just a lot of verbal encouragement and the techniques listed above.

3. I replaced the 4mm allen headed mild steal screws with stainless Torx headed security screws. Because they are stainless they aren't quite so deformable as mild steel screws. The Torx head allows more leverage and better location than an allen key.

4. I replaced the calliper bolts, external tube, bleed nipples and pins with new ones from Mike Satur. I couldn't find anywhere that stocked all of the items and Mike posted them so I got them within 2 days.

5. I couldn't find anywhere the official torque figures for the 12.9 calliper bolts. The originals were torqued to EFTight spec. After some research decided to torque to 70 ft lbs.

6. I replaced the Mintex pads with EBC ones...Ultimax 2 for the front and Greenstuff 200 for the rear. These replaced Mintex 1109GF and 1202EE cooking pads which don't IMO give much/enough braking force. I'm expecting the EBC pads to perform better.

7. I spray painted the callipers using Autotek AT0VHTR500 500ml VHT Paint - Red (matt) and Autotek AT0VHTC500 500ml VHT Paint - Clear...1 can of each is sufficient for two calipers. I did 'audition' several paints before arriving at this choice.

Namely: (and I suspect the colour won't display truly on your monitor)

http://ift.tt/1uX080N - red brushed..which was thin, didn't cover very well, was streaky, cherry red in colour and didn't adhere to the calliper..it flaked off

Smooth Hammerite - red brushed, covered well but thickly..a bit streaky..again a bit too cherry red

The only paint which gave a colour close to the original, covered well and didn't streak was the Autotek VHT..The matt finish was fine IMO but was even better after applying a clear coat. I'm very happy with both the colour and the finish.

Silverstone, Northamptonshire 28th September 2014 - MG KX Clubcard Fuel Save racer Jason Plato chalked up two impressive Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship victories at Silverstone today, but couldn’t prevent title rival Colin Turkington edging ever closer to the 2014 title. Sam Tordoff delivered a pair of top ten finishes, but an engine failure in race three prevented him overcoming Matt Neal in the points standings.

After a sublime qualifying performance a day prior ensured no other manufacturer held pole at Silverstone in the NGTC era, Plato led the grid away from pole-position and slotted in behind the BMW of Turkington into the first corner, Copse. Prior to the race start, Plato acknowledged the need to pass Turkington within three laps, and the MG man did just that, putting a stellar move on his Northern Irish rival at Brooklands on the third lap.

From then on, Plato eased out a slim lead, building on it in the latter stages once he got into his groove, finishing 1.453s ahead and bagging a valuable 20 points in the process in front of a 32,000 home crowd.

Starting on an alternative strategy to his team-mate, Tordoff selected the soft option tyres in the first race. The strategy was due to enhance his performance in the remaining races of the day, but it seemingly didn’t hinder his ability to attack in the first race of the day, with the Yorkshire ace finishing fourth, surrendering his third place starting position to Mat Jackson’s Ford on the first lap.

Race two began in increasingly humid conditions at the Northamptonshire circuit, with Plato on pole and Tordoff fourth. Similar to the first race, Turkington leapt into the lead at Copse, with Plato shuffling in behind, biding his time for an opportunity to pass. Tordoff dropped two places off the start and allowed Alain Menu and Rob Collard to pass, dropping the 25-year-old to sixth.

BRDC director Plato overcame Turkington on lap two with yet another textbook manoeuvre, a bold overtake into Brooklands, right in front of the crowd watching in the resplendent BRDC Clubhouse. Learning from the previous race, Plato got his head down earlier and delivered a smooth and consistent succession of laps to build a buffer and take his 87 BTCC victory, his second of the day, his thirteen podium appearance of the season.

After fairing better than expected on the soft tyre, Tordoff struggled with the harder compound Dunlop rubber, giving up sixth to Jordan on lap ten, getting the place back with Collard’s tumble down the order six laps later. A red flag brought the race to a premature close, with both MG drivers in the mix to benefit from the reverse grid draw.

The third race of the weekend was atmospherically cooler, but the action on track was red hot. Sam benefited most from the grid draw, and Jason lined up seventh, with champion-elect Turkington just ahead in sixth.

Bad luck hit the #88 car once again after a brief respite; on the approach to the grid Sam felt the engine power drop and on the grid the engine cut out. The engine restarted, but all was not right and when the lights went out on the start gantry, a plume of smoke signalled the end of the race for the BRDC SuperStar.

Once underway, the opening laps of the race were somewhat of a procession as Fabrizio Giovanardi’s third-placed Ford backed up five cars, one of which was the remaining MG KX Clubcard Fuel Save MG of Plato.

Turkington, also in the train of cars, bided his time but eventually made a clumsy challenge on the Italian’s Ford, inadvertently bringing Menu into contention. The trio of champions, with five titles between them, headed out of Woodcote side-by-side on lap 20 and Plato sat back, waiting for an opportunity to arise; he wouldn’t have to wait long.

On the approach to Becketts, opportunity knocked and Plato followed Turkington up the inside of Giovanardi; in doing so the Oxford-based ace ushered Menu wide. Turkington parked the BMW on the apex and a soft tap under braking from Plato ensured both title contenders made it past the Ford and Volkswagen. It was a fantastic sequence of events that had the crowd on their feet, and post-race Plato acknowledged the move as a highlight of the weekend.

Over the course of the final laps Plato and Turkington could be separated by tenths, and at the flag the BMW finished ahead of the MG by just 0.715s.

Going into the final round of the 2014 season, Plato trails Turkington by 50 points, five points closer than prior to Silverstone. However, while 67 points are for the taking in a fortnight at Brands Hatch, the team remain focused on sealing a maiden Manufacturer’s title for MG. The 2014 season finale takes place on the GP circuit at the historic Kent track (October 11-12, 2014) with the Greatworth-based squad looking to add to its impressive 22-title haul.

Quotes

Jason Plato

“It was a fantastic weekend. That’s what we’ve got to do now; win races. The championship is realistically gone, but winning races is what it’s all about. The manufacturer’s championship is at the forefront of my mind and at all costs we must win this. It’s a shame Sam had his issue as we’ve dropped some points there, but we’re still in the lead. Second is safe in the driver’s standings, there’s not a lot I can really do to stop Colin, so it’s game on now for wins. We’ve got to go to Brands, hope it rains and try to win more races. I was really pleased with my two overtakes on Colin today; the second was in particular really pleasing. It was a very serious over take, massive commitment and a bit of psychology in there too. Then in race three there was another important move. I knew coming out of Woodcote that something would happen into Becketts with the three ahead of me. As we went into Copse it was apparent where I needed to be, Colin had the overlap on Menu and knowing Colin as I do, I knew he wouldn’t back out, even if it meant going on the grass a little. I thought if I get behind him, I could also get the overlap on Menu. Colin did exactly what I would’ve done and got on the brakes early, which prevented me from getting under him too. I got two; it would’ve been nice to get three! The team gave me the quickest front-wheel-drive car yet again, and I think we go to Brands looking really good for wins.”

Temp gauge rising at 2000 rpm - dropping after

Hi guys, I've had this problem for a couple of months now where the temperature gauge rises at 2000 rpm and drops back down to normal when the revs are higher.

So far, I've changed the radiator and thermostat and have flushed the system 2/3 times. It sounds like there's a blockage somewhere in the engine but I don't know the best way to flush that out.

Or is there something obvious that I'm missing?

Any advice is appreciated.

cam belt failure

Hi

im new here,i would like to get of to a brighter start with my mgf,but the cambelt went before i got around to it,iv'e stripped the head, all the exhaust valves are bent and the anti vibration ring has split on the exhaust cam pulley, other than that fairly ok.

As for the head gasket which showed no signs of failure and the inside of the engine is really clean,it already has metal dowels, the liners are flush and the head gasket that was in is a single layer with orange silicone,im having the head skimmed anyway so would it be wrong to fit the multi layer gasket?it seems as im going to have to buy all my parts seperatly as all the kits i've so far seen come with the multi layer.

any advice greatly recieved Trev

Zafira B Airbag fault code - squib voltage low

Hi,

Last week my airbag light came on, so i got myself op-com and read the faults:

I have the following:

driver airbag squib circuit (stage 2) low voltage

First i tried clearing the code to see if it was just a one off/error, but it returned, so i disconnected the battery and removed the drivers airbag. I've checked the connections to the airbag (2) and the wiring from the plugs in the centre of the wheel. I've also looked at all the other wiring around the wheel to see if i had any nicks but nothing.

I didn't remove my steering wheel, so i'm not sure whats behind or what that connector is attached to.

Any help or advice would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Mat

Namely: (and I suspect the colour won't display truly on your monitor)

http://www.brake-caliper-painting.com - red brushed..which was thin, didn't cover very well, was streaky, cherry red in colour and didn't adhere to the calliper..it flaked off

Thanks,

Mat

If needed its an 08 1.9CDTI Design.

Parking sensors plus towbar..

Hi,

Just got myself a 45 diesel (hatch) with factory fitted parking sensors and the car has also had a towbar fitted for the last 10 years or so. Over the last few days for some reason the parking sensors have started to detect the towbar when reversing, it does have a towbar shield (or whatever it's called) but I don't understand what has changed on it.

I dropped the towbar today and the parking sensors started working correctly again.

I know the 75 had something a bit more complex but this from what I can see is a simple system? I can hear all four sensors clicking and all four worked without the towbar.

Help........

Thanks,

Mat

Window regulator help

After a failure to close the ns window. I have today attempted to change the passenger side window regulator and motor. Purchased a used working regulator from the bay of e and attempted a swap. Old regulator came out without hassle. I would say that it must have been changed previously as the wiring had been cut and rejoined and the plastic sheet under the door card is missing. Problem arose when fitting the replacement. It is different to the faulty unit removed. (see pics) Questions i need help with.

1, is the faulty unit the correct one? Car is MG TF cool blue 135 2003.

2, Is the replacement correct?

In the picture the one with the white motor and clamping bracket is the original. Black motor version is the purchased replacement. http://ift.tt/1DO4bTs

Broken exhaust, costly?

Recently, whilst driving, I heard my exhaust getting louder and louder, and I thought to myself "wow, removing the volume control valve has actually worked", but alas, no. I looked underneath and the metal bands that hold the exhaust box has snapped and this has resulted in pulling apart another part of the pipe (as seen in the pictures). Two questions then:

1) Is this damaging to the car/cat/exhaust

2) Is it easy to fix and will it be expensive

Goodbye and all that.

Hi,

I have been fortunate to have met a number of you, to have contributed to this forum and to have taken good detail from it in the past.

After 5 years of ownership I have decided to part company with my ZT-T 180, it's been fun, expensive and rewarding. While my car still drives beautifully I can see an expensive looming crunch on the horizon, better to bale out while the going is good, the car is 12 years old and has covered just shy of 100k

I have traded her for a SAAB 20 t Convertible - Similar performance, 170 - 180 bhp although different profiles. Over the period my requirements have changed as well.

Why -

The MG is using maybe 1 ltr of water a month, - Thermostat has been done twice in my ownership, plus pipes, hoses seals and so on, including the tubing under the Rad. - The rad itself is also a little suspect.

I suspect it needs a new Water pump - This wasn't changed 5 years ago when the Cam Belts last came off following a dispute with the vendor dealership.

It needs Cam belts, - 5 years plus about 50k have elapsed.

It needs 2 front tyres.

It needs a brake disc and pad job.

The central locking motor on the drivers door (unlock) has died.

It needs a auto box - oil change.

The trim on both driver and rear kick plate has fallen off (again)

The LED display has quite a few lines and duff pixels.

There is a water leak into the rear - probably through the side trim, - always dribbled in all the time i have owned the car.

Air con needs a re-gas.

One rear lens is held on with super glue and a prayer - the other was replaced, these are rare and expensive on the estate.

Few other bits and pieces, a couple of scuffs bumper, nothing serious.

I suspect a wheel bearing / drive shaft is on the way out, there is a droning noise at speed.

When I total this up I see figures of around £2000 which is just too much.

The car has MOT until Christmas, I fully realize that all the problems can be fixed whether by Terry TS Motors or by Beech Hill but the list is too big and the cost too extreme and I like my cars to be in reasonable nick.

So on Wednesday - after protracted debate - the time has come, wish it could be replaced with newer / better but the MG product as I have owned is getting long in the tooth now and it's not possible to get a good one without loads of work, better the devil you know than someone else's.

Next task - electric windows help please

Hi all

The drivers door electric window has never worked, so as next job on list I have taken doorcard off and disconnected the plug on the door that connects to the motor.

As you look at the picture I have included below the wire colurs going from LEFT to right are:-

Black

Blue

Red / Yellow

Red / Blue

Placing the probes of my multimeter into the following terminals of the plug:-

Red probe into RED / BLUE wire

Black Probe into RED / YELLOW wire

With ignition at position 2 and sitting in drivers seat I got:-

+12.35V when pulled switch back towards back of car

-12.35V when I pushed switch towards front of car

From this can I conclude the door motor is dead or do I need to do some tests on the thin black and blue wires - anyone know what these are?

Hope someone can help, this is a great forum and really pleased theirs this forum as means we can keep the rover going, its a great car and we really like it.

Thanks

Mark

Damned widow is jammed.

Am about to lay into this damned door with the largest sledge hammer I can lay my hands on :***:.

While adjusting the window to get it to seal the water out something jumped and now the damned widow is jammed. It won't go up nor down more than about 20 mm and the front won't move down at all. Cannot see how to get the glass out so at this rate I will smash the door to bits and get another.

What should have been a straight forwards job has turned into a weekend of complete bloody nightmare.

Any suggestions before I get the sledge out?

Rear headrests

Hi guys,

I got some rear headrest fixing kits from a scrappy the other week and I remember reading somewhere that front headrests would fit.

My mate phoned me and said they had an MG with the same seats I have in a scrappy he was in, and that he'd get me the headrests.

I went out and installed my kit. Went to put the headrest in the fixings and bam, the front and rear headrests appear to be different.

As stated in an earlier thread, I have a slight sump leak around the drain plug on my 45 - thread damaged. We have a scrap 25 diesel with a (we presume) a good sump. If they are the same, is it much of a job to change them over (we are not mechanics)?

MK2 Starter Motor Protection

on my previous cars if you turn the key to position 3 accidently when already running you grate the starter motor or worst still cause damage to it. I had fans on full and didn't realise I had already started the engine and turned key to start position to my amazement nothing happened. It appears the mk2 1.8 zs disables the starter key once the engine is running to prevent damage to the starter motor. Just thought I would share this as its good to know.
