MGZT cdti 135 + for sale

I am selling my 54 plate MGZT cdti 135 +, mileage 120500, MOT until October 2017. I have owned the car for 8 years but I have a new car and don't have the space to keep this one.

Grey, 2 keys, xenon headlights, part leather interior, parking sensors, electric windows, air con. Bodywork is in good condition no rust but does have some dinks and stone chips but nothing too bad.

I have serviced the vehicle every year (oil and filters) but it is due an oil change.

The vehicle has been off the road for most of the last 12 months - kept inside. I have taken it out for a short period to keep it ticking over.

I have receipts for most work / parts replaced. Intercooler O rings and maf sensor (bosch) in March 2015, lower engine mount bushes replaced with powerflex, battery replaced in Jan 2015 and most of the exhaust has been replaced over the last 3 years and is in good condition.

Cruise control doesn't work at the moment. I believe this has been the case since the clutch was replaced about 4 years ago but, as I rarely used it I'm not sure exactly when it went. It is likely to be the switch on the clutch pedal.

Also the CD changer does not work. I replaced the original stereo (with tape player) and replaced with a multi player unit which didn't have a port for the CD changer. When I put the original stereo back in last year, it doesn't seem to pick up the cd changer.

Clutch is heavy but this is not uncommon.

Alloys could do with a refurb but tyres are good, including a new front tyre (budget) due to puncture when taking it out recently.

Mot'd in October - 1 advisory re front drop link - this has now been replaced.

Price is £795 - I also have a spare alloy wheel with tyre and two xenon headlights which can be used for spare parts. I'll throw in a Haynes manual as well.

Vehicle is in the Eastbourne area

Re-introduction

Evening guys,

Not really an introduction, more of a reintroduction.

I frequented these forums a couple of years ago when I had an MGF but then sold it, but I have recently had an itch that I haven't been able to scratch and so now I have an MGTF to at least soothe the itch.

I had been looking for a while and procrastinating plenty and finally took the plunge yesterday. Got a bit of a project car to work on, it's a standard 135 in trophy blue, it's had a bit of money spent on it by the previous owner with the HG, Cam belt alternator, rear screen, tyres, brakes and battery all having been done.

The body needs a little tidying and there are a few jobs I would like to do, there's a few things I have noticed so far:

Car wanders a little
Heater control is sticky - have checked cable but the movement of the flap itself is bad, the pin sometimes comes out of the runner.
Top is a little lose
Investigate why there is occasionally a smell of petrol on cornering and no pressure when I remove petrol cap

Jobs to do after the above:

Service the car

Fill and repair hole in front bumper - going to be my first attempt at body work so will see how that goes

Repair ittle rust spot above windscreen

Thoroughly clean and reblack the roof
Replace drivers seat as bolster is deformed

Find some material for the drivers door card the bit at the bottom, does anyone know what this is called and where I can get it from?

Fit coolant alarm

Fit stainless underfloor pipes

So i apolgise in advance for the large amount of stupid questions that will no doubt follow.

Cheers

Si.

Pressing Bushings - Practical Advice from anyone who has done it please?

Hey,

I have to change the bush on the rear suspension upper radius arms, at the inboard (body) end. Oh joy!

I know i can buy the complete arm pre-assembled with bushings.

However, it would be much more economic to only change the faulty bushing.

I have never pressed out/in a bushing before.

I have materials in the shed to make up a press with a threaded action on a scale similar to a bench vice.

Would it be realistic to press a bushing like that? Or does it really require something way more substantial?

If anyone on here has done this, please let me know!

Drivers window stopped working

Hi, my drivers window has stopped working.

Fuse 4 is fine

The relay clicks when pressing the window button, but absolutely no movement of the window or no sound in the door.

What's the first thing I should look at? I'm guessing electrical since if the window was stuck, I'd expect to hear it trying to move?

thanks

How can I get this fog light clear/clean

If that is a layer of fine condensation on the inside of the glass, the best thing to do is leave it with the bulb and holder removed during dry weather to allow it to dry out. Alternatively, remove the lamp unit (unclip the plastic surround and unscrew the three screws) and put it somewhere warm and dry for a day or two, then let it cool before refitting.

It would be advisable to ensure that the glass is fully sealed to the back part by carefully smearing some silicone sealant around the seal area (have had moisture getting into fogs on both my ZRs and doing the above has sorted the problem).

If there is a dry cloudy film on the inside of the glass, it should be possible to clean it with a small piece of cloth on the end of a suitable stick or wire - access by removing the bulb. Probably need to remove the lamp unit from the bumper to do this too.

Surprise moment

Went to West Hampstead in London today for lunch with some friends. As it happened, I found some parking space just outside the pub. A couple of hours later when I popped outside to smoke an after the lunch cigarette, I saw the below. The car to the right is mine, to the left I have no clue (could it be another forum member?). Took a photo, I thought it was cool

Just wondered if it is safe to unplug the MAF. Have read posts on different forums etc of people unplugging the sensor, to check the cars performance without. Therefore helping to determine if the MAF is shot. Without paying around £200 only to find my problem still not fixed.

There is also the option to spray on some cleaner too?

So in trying to remove the calipers I have found.... you cannot.

The 17mm bolts holding it onto the hub have seized.

I've tried spanners

Bigger spanners

Hammers

Blow Torch and breaker bar

Blow Torch and more hammers

WD40 and hammers

and it won't even budge...

I'm not being stupid and not realising it's a reverse thread or something no?

I mean there was enough rust on the caliper that fell off to wonder that there was any caliper left but I can't get ANY access to put a rattle gun on it.

Any ideas?

Sticking Automatic Choke

Sticking Automatic Choke

Hi
Have a problem with my 1.1 100 - every time I dip the clutch the engine is revving right up. Pulling up at the lights I dip the clutch and as soon as I do, the revs go up. I have changed the throttle cable having suspected that it was just this sticking, but evidently not. Having looked under the bonnet I can see that the spring mechanism on top of the engine returns to its resting (tickover) position, but the engine continues to rev. We now think that it must be either what the spring mechanism is attached to inside the inlet to the engine, or the automatic choke.
Has anybody else had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it? I'd like to get this sorted quickly as the car is barely driveable - I find that I'm braking against the engine all the time!
Thanks

For some, like me, there's no known cure.

... Gorn and done it again! My third MG ZT-T 1.8t... an 05 Reg example with moderate mileage in dull as ditchwater bland Grey... and ugly Black Gridspoke wheels just ripe for a decent refurb in Silver...Used the A-Frame to collect it .... try as I do, can only drive one car at any one time. A-Frame work surprisingly well and no need for second pilot.

Starts and drives fine but, overheats from coolant loss after a few miles according to the helpful previous owner. Not had a chance to look at it due to poor weather and bad light. Could simply be a worn or leaking hose leading to the so called "They all do that" scenario. Maybe something else. We shall see. Even if it has a damaged Cylinder Head Gasket, I shall enjoy the investigation and repair. This poor image was taken a few minutes before dark and the hand held camera has lied about light levels... It was much darker hence shaking image effect as the auto camera exposure action held the lens open to allow extra light. Hence poor image.

I'll get some better images in due course... no sign of any sunshine at all today. My camera is showing "clocks back" tonight time already.

My son who has more cars and projects than you can shake a stick at. He queried why I should get another. I explained that in a year or three's time, these opportunities will not be there. This ZT-T 1.8t has lots of potential, but, should effective repair not be a realistic proposition, it will be useful pool of parts for the two better ZT-Ts in the family.

Hi Guys

Does anyone else have an issue with the clock, where by some of the digits aren't being displayed? If I lightly press my finger over them, they will appear.

Viewed another 45 before I got this one and that had the same problem. Accept it was almost the whole display.

This one only misses the last minute. E.g. 5:45 is displayed as 5:4 with the 4 just about visible.

How to: Fit an Illuminated Rear View Mirror.

How to: Fit an Illuminated Rear View Mirror.

One of the features that I miss from my old Rover 400 was the illuminated ring around the ignition lock. When it was dark. It was easy to put the key in the hole. With the Rover 25, there was much fumbling to find the hole I had originally wanted to re-instate this feature, but the parts were made of unobtainium. It was suggested by another Member (Roverlike) that I fitted a illuminated rear view mirror from a MG-TF. I was skeptical. I had visions of fabricating an illuminated ring and fitting it myself. Then came along another Member (Man in the Car) who Posted up a Factory Guide for fitting the illuminated mirror. At this point, I was convinced, so I bought a mirror.

There was one thing that bothered me about the guide. There was far too much dismantling of parts and unnecessary faffing around. I thought I could simplify the job and make it easier to do. Now. I must point out one thing. This guide is for Rover 25's that don't have a sun roof. If you have a sun roof. You want the factory guide here:

The Fine Art of Owning:...

The first thing you'll need to do is to remove the original rear view mirror. All you have to do is; Lift the mirror upwards. It's not glued in. Very little force is required. Once done, you'll see the metal retainer glued to the windscreen.

Next is the removal of the courtesy light lens.

Insert a screwdriver into the slot on the side as shown and twist. The lens will then 'pop'. The lens can then be removed.

Next you'll need to remove the two 8mm bolts that hold on the courtesy light.

Once done. Simply unclip the loom from the courtesy light. The light can then be put to one side.

The fold down sun screens from the front of the roof can now be removed. Each screen is held in place with 3 screws.

Once done. It's time to heat up a soldering iron.

I'm a cheapskate. I used the cheapest and most easily available cable to solder to the courtesy light. Yup. I used lightweight 3 core mains cable! You'll need a Metre of cable for the job. Before you solder anything. Make sure that the tracks on the courtesy light are clean! Solder will not stick to dirty tracks. Even better. Score the tracks to ensure a greater surface area for the solder to stick too.

Make a note of where the coloured wires are soldered. This will be helpful when the wires are connected to the mirror.

The next step is to thread the wires through the gap between the head lining and the roof. There is a hole in the spar that the cable needs to be threaded through.

The cable from the courtesy light is on the right. The cable on the left will be going to the illuminated mirror. Here's another view:

Now you will need to thread the cable through the headlining gap to the front. You'll need a stiff piece of wire (A wire coat hanger is common enough). Tape the cable to the end of the wire (I used an airgun cleaning rod) and push the cable towards the front of the head lining.

I think you'll understand now why this method is no good if you have a sun roof. With luck, you'll see this:

You can now remove the cable from the wire, rod etc and remove. The cable can now be pulled through. You can also refit the courtesy light. Come to thing of it. You'll have too. The negative wire is an Earth. If the light isn't bolted back into place, the mirror won't work!

Now is the time to connect the cable to the mirror. Fit the illuminated mirror onto the metal retainer on the windscreen. This is a temporary thing, but it will make the wires easier to connect. I used Scotch clips to connect the wires. How you connect the wires is up to you.

Now. As I understand it. The colours on the mirror vary. I had Black. Purple and Green. Connecting the wires can be Pot Luck if yours are different. However. On my mirror the connections went: Blue to Black. Brown to Purple and Green/Yellow to Green. If you've got the same colour wires as me, then you're onto a winner.

If everything works as it should (Test and test again for the correct function). Then everything can be screwed back together gain. The mirror can be removed again and the cable slotted into the groove on the bracket. Then replace the mirror.

This will be the sight that greets you when it's dark:

But wait. The story isn't over! It was suggested by a Member (Roverlike) that LED bulbs would provide better lighting. I just had to know. The results were conclusive:

On the left is a 5W LED. On the right is a 10W bulb. I think the results speak for themselves. I should point out one thing. LED's only work one way around (LED stands for Light Emitting Diode). If you insert a LED into the socket and it doesn't work. Remove it and turn it around. It'll then work. The extra light in the cabin will then look like this:

Job done!

Hi guys

So only got the car this week. So no idea on it's history with regards to aircon recharge. But when I press the A/C button, I cannot hear the compressor kicking in. Also can't visually see it running.

Could this be something as simple as just needing a re-gas? I read somewhere online that the compressors will not function if the refrigerant is too low. To avoid damage.

Or could be something more expensive?

It was always the friend of a friend who could vouch for its existence, if only we could meet him), there was quite a craze for resprays consisting of metal-flake paint which would glisten most beautifully, under the white or orange streetlamps.

Does that paint still exist, where can it be purchased from and how much would a respray with it cost - anyone know, please?

If not, howsabouts starting one, here?

I'd love to see what could be done to my old 25 (and other models) to fire up my imagination and whimsies.

Especially now that the days are drawing in and more is likely to be planned than actually enacted, until the spring.

Clutch problems

My 45TD (53 plate) had a clutch replaced about 3 years and has been fine except its always been a little 'heavy' on the pedal.
Not a problem until recently but it's becoming increasingly difficult to change gear without pushing the pedal right to the floor, getting worse as the journey progresses.
The master and slave seem to be working fine and the release arm doesn't appear to be sticking. I can detatch the slave and move the arm back and forth a little quite easily although perhaps it should move more than it does?
Tried release oil but don't think this is the problem.
Is it likely to be internal?
Don't want to spend too much as the car is probably heading towards end-of-life, just wondered if a quick fix to try or at least a way of determining which component is at fault. Cheers.

Well after last month's four figure blast what do we think this month will bring?

SMMT used to release figures on the 4th day of the month but now it seems to be the 3rd so I will take the last entry at 10pm on Nov 2nd to be safe. That's Wednesday next week.

I have no clue at all as last month was such an increase over the month before so I can only guess at 450.

2003 ZTT V6 constant misfire

While driving at (legal) motorway speeds the EML flashed a couple of times, then came on permanently.
I pulled over asap and it was soon apparent that the engine wasn’t firing on all cylinders.
Drove home and as I was going away this week I took it the local garage did the following:
  • Ran diagnostics which shows miss fire on cylinder 6
  • Replaced the plug
  • Tried a new coil tried but it did not solve problems so the original re-fitted;
  • Did Compression test carried out and cylinder 6 same others
  • carried out 3 block tests found no evidence of leak
  • Found + fixed a Leak in a vacuum pipe T-joints repaired;
However the problem was not solved.
They believe there is probably an air leak into the manifold near to cylinder 6 but they couldn’t pin point where without dismantling so at this point they stopped and advised me to find a KV6 specialist.
Any thoughts on what investigate next or similar common problems affecting cylinder 6

One final thing; may be a red herring - the temperature gauge has always been exactly mid-range once the car is warmed up, but now it has started read below a quarter; coolant level is normal.

Bad experience - MG ZT 190 SE in Saltburn

*** A WORD OF WARNING ***

Apologies to the mods of this isn't allowed, but felt that I've the responsibility to warn other people!!!

Been across from Preston to Saltburn, by train, to see the ZT 190 ST that Simon Feagan is selling.

We've been in email communications for nearly 2 weeks, as I've been busy with my business, today was the first chance to come across and see it!

I've email after email asking about the condition of the car, what bodywork issues there are, no matter how trivial, any other issues (drive train, electrical, braking, engine, cooling etc) and he's repeatedly said that there's not a lot & it's an excellent car, but nearly 13 years old so with age expected dings & curbed alloys (which I've no issues about)!

I've got here about 20mins ago, cars parked outside his address. There are paintwork issues and dents all over the car (he did show me bumper paint scuffs and a dent on the passenger side roof which I was fine with). But seeing it in the flesh; there's a huge ripple down the drivers door, there is another dent on the passenger side C pillar which he said there wasn't, even though a picture he sent me shows this, there are bad patches of paint on the roof that are blatantly obvious, & look a mess, the top of the rear bumper is a mess due to poor loading of items, there rear windscreen looks like its been silicone sealed as there's sealant all around the trim, the mirror caps are an absolute mess and would need to be resprayed (along with most of the car), the headlights are a mess and would need a full refurbishment of the lenses... I could go on, but won't!

I told him he's lied to me and completely wasted my time, he thinks I've wasted his time and called me a few names... Fortunately I'm big enough for him to not go any further, but being bullsh**ed to about a cars condition and then travelling from one side of the country to the other and to find my worries were confirmed, he's completely lied to me and ****ed me off and left a sour taste in my mouth!

Please beware that this car would need probably close to £1k, if not more, to make it presentable, never mind 'good condition'!

Sorry if this isn't welcomed, but please take heed of this if you ever think of going to see this car or deal with Simon Feagan!

Was sat looking at it today and thought,if that switch stuck out a bit more I'd be able to open it with my foot!
When I got home I had a rummage in my garage and found a foam off-cut from a caferacer seat I'd made years ago so I cut a bit the size of the switch button and peeled the self adhesive cover off and stuck it on. Its sticks out by about 3mm at the top and its just enough so that I can tap it with my foot even with the door closed.

- The drivers window doesnt go down, I have checked the fuse which is fine, swapped out for another to be sure. Cant hear anything trying to move in the door either.
- The central locking doesnt work, remote works, can open the boot fine and have checked the fuse for it too
- The alarm horn doesnt work, the lights flash but there is no sound, does give a horn blast if the boot/doors are open when you try and lock though?

Any pointers/advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Monogram "restoration"

Found out recently that, although my Tf is a monogram, it's been somewhat "messed about with", my intention is to get it back to how it would have been delivered from the factory.
I always fancied a set of Black and Blue seats, which I have now bought, and will be fitting soon, I believe that these are Oxford Leather.
Transpires that the seats that are currently installed are Mk1 MGF seats, which, although I really like, are not really correct.
I have also have 11 spokes, which I assume are an option, or would they have been a standard fitment on a mono?
Anything else I need to be adding?

ZR Synchro?

Today lost some springiness in my ZR gearbox. Seemed to be 1 & 2 , but 5th needed excessive pressure to go in.

Used F for a bit, back in the ZR and seems better but can't tell if it's back to normal?

IB5 box, changed the oil last year (2 litres or thereabouts). Have a spare lying around if I need it

Why are AUS getting 1.8 K facelift + DCT?

I don't get it... They're launching in Australia, with a better facelift 6 than we got (17" alloys for a start), including a dual clutch transmission and using the N series again.

I wonder why exactly we don't have the 6 anymore

Having had no luck selling the zs120 in firefrost red I will be breaking it for parts and weighing in the shell engine and gearbox.
So is there anyone interested in a firefrost red 180 body kit, front bumper, rear bumper , side skirts, front wings plus rear door and quarter panel trims. Or if converting a mk1 to mk2 I also have headlamps and bonnet with grill.

Locking nut removal

Ok so the locking nut has gone wanderbouts.

I have another set but it's a different designation unfortunately.

Are there any set of diagrams that allow me to figure out which letter my existing lug nut fits to?

It's currently got three large adjacent grooves with two small ones.

This is all before I have to resort to smashing a perfectly good 18mm socket over these things to get them off.

MG ZS side skirt mounting brackets

Hey all

After removing my side skirts for some much needed rust treatment, all but one of those metal brackets that hold the skirt to the sill have turned to a pile of rust (i am amazed the skirts didn't fall off!) after searching various places on the internet i cannot seem to find anywhere that i can buy these brackets, am i right in assuming they came as part of the side skirt itself and therefore are not available separately? or can anyone point me in the direction of a suitable replacement? i have had a look on rimmer brothers and cant find them

these are for the 180 kit side skirts btw

Many thanks

Roo

Tractor syndrome... new solenoid or new pump??

Tractor syndrome... new solenoid or new pump??

I've got the dreaded tractor syndrome with error P1222. I can get a new solenoid for £75 from a local diesel injection place but he tells me that he's seen a few of these pumps (from Transits mostly) and says the timing mechanism inside can sometimes be at fault.

It's an 05 MG ZS with 82K miles and I really want to try to get another 4-5 years from the car if I can. So is it worth just going for a new pump? I'm worried about the pump ECU or metering solenoid going next, or maybe the turbo.

Any thoughts on how frequently these faults occur? I can stretch to a new pump if it means I can keep my car going but I don't want to be splashing out for turbo next month

MG ZT Headlight Washers Question. MoT Fail if not working?

My latest ZT acquisition has MoT due in early December... few weeks away now. The headlamp washers do not work. They do on another ZT ( on SORN ) I have so before considering swapping parts, if not essential for MoT no need.

Maybe the problem is sludge blockage yet until investigate.

Another possibility, If I remove the jets from the front bumper and tape them off could that be a "fail". Any guidance here will be appreciated.

MGF 75th Anniversary - need a new hood!

MGF 75th Anniversary - need a new hood!

Hi everyone! I bought a 1999 MGF 75th Anniversary off my brother a couple of months ago (he's had it laying up in a garage for the last five years since having kids) and had a wonderful summer driving around the UK, France and Italy - 5000 miles in just under two months and it worked like a dream (most other time).

I've now put it away for the winter as I live abroad, but am going to need a new hood and rear screen come the spring as the current one has numerous holes in, lets in water when it rains and I managed to split the screen on my last trip.

Trying to find somewhere to find a new hood that matches the original but no luck as yet - it's a black car with the Grenadine red roof, so I'd ideally like to get the same again. Can anyone recommend somewhere to go? I've tried MGFMania, Hot Hoods and BAS, but none of them can source the correct colour.

Any recommendations would be great!!

Front Wishbone Failure due to Polybushes?

Here is a picture of my failed wishbone.

And a close up of the fracture surface

[IMG][/IMG]

The fracture surface shows that a crack has propagated from both sides of the arm over time (the original failure surface has gone rusty) and this must be due to cyclic bending stresses on the arm.

Give yourself a point if you've just gone " wait a minute, there shouldn't be any significant bending stress on a wishbone. Correct, as both ends of the wishbone are effectively pin jointed, it should only see a compressive / tensile load. If you try to apply a bending moment the arm is supposed to move.

What I think has happened is that the poly bushes I used are slightly oversize and a very tight fit in the subframe. When I tightened the through bolt it clamped the bush in the subframe and stopped it rotating. This means that every time I hit a bump it put a huge bending load on the wishbone and eventually broke it.

Just to be clear, the wishbone is supposed to be free to rotate and the clamping bolt is supposed to clamp on the sleeve through the middle of the bush and the poly bit is supposed to rotate on the sleeve - this is why they give you grease with the bushes.

For info it took about 18 months but only about 10K miles to break.

New from Spain

Hello,

I'm new in this forum, I'm from Spain, I've got a Rover 25 2.0 D, L series engine, this engine is bulletproof, now my mother has inherited my car.

Now I'm trying to find a Rover 25 vi (1.8 145hp K series engine), in Spain was on sale from 1999 to 2001. this is my childhood dream .

I love the 200/25/ ZR series, it has the perfect size, not too big like the hatchback nowadays, and I love the design, the perfect balance between sportiness and elegance.

Fitting a Mk1 MG ZT front bumper to a Mk 1 Rover 75

I'm sure this topic has been covered before but as I have just gone through the process I thought my notes may be useful to others attempting this task.

What you will need:

- MG ZT front bumper complete with fog lights and indicators (around £50 to £80 from ebay)
- MG ZT front bumper wiring loom (around £10 to £20 from ebay) Note: Rover 75 wiring loom indicator connectors are different
- Ideally, MG ZT front bumper foam infills as they are different
- Ideally, also left and right wheel arch liners as the MG ZT bumper is wider
- Ideally, an MG ZT engine under tray as the MG ZT’s bumper protrudes more than a Rover 75’s

Tools

- Crosshead screw driver
- 20mm star shaped torx screwdriver or bit
- Thin nose pliers
- Hack saw

Removing the existing front bumper

- Open the bonnet and remove the chrome grill by unscrewing the two cross-head screws and prise out the retaining clips. Pull the top of the grille forward, unclip and remove it
- Remove eight of the nine cross headed black bolts, leaving the centre one in place, which secure the top edge of the bumper to the car body – four behind the grille and two more above each headlight. Loosen the middle, the ninth bolt, but leave it in place as it will hold the bumper while you pull out the sides of the bumper away from the car body
- Inside the wheel arch (both sides) remove a bumper to wheel arch liner screw using a 20mm star shaped torx screwdriver or bit
- Underneath the bumper remove the three cross headed screws at the front of each wheel arch which secure the bumper to the front brake air ducts
- Underneath the middle of the bumper remove four quick release screw fasteners which should be securing the bumper lower edge to the engine under tray (mine were missing)
- Mask the body work with tape/card just above the end sides of the bumper to prevent scratches when you pull the bumper ends outwards
- Lift and firmly pull the bumper ends outwards. This may take some effort
- The bumper is now secured by a single yellow fir tree clip each side and the central bolt on top
- Remove this last of the nine cross headed black bolts and pull the bumper forwards detaching it from the two yellow fir tree clips
- Disconnect the bumper wiring harness multi-plug which should be clipped under the left hand head light and remove the bumper completely
- Finally, remove the two yellow fir tree clips which have remained in the wings each side using the thin nose pliers and push them back onto the sockets of the MG ZT bumper. If the circular retainers are missing you will need to remove these from the bumper you have just taken off. But, unless you are lucky, you will damage them and will need to obtain two more. I found a set online at Genuine, discounted, Ford, Renault, Nissan, MG, Rover and Tata parts shipped Worldwide The part number is DYC101530

Fitting the MG ZT bumper

- Insert the MG ZT foam infills into the bumper if you have them, or cable tie them to the metal crash bar to prevent them falling out when you offer up the bumper. Not having them I have done without and the bumper seems fine
- What about the bonnet release lever which protrudes through the grill of the Rover 75 but will be impeded by the mesh grille of the new bumper I hear you ask. If you are a purist you could fit the later Rover 75 internal release lever. I decided on a work around using the existing mechanism. Taking the hack saw I sawed off the first inch of the lever. With new bumper and grille in place it is easy to push a screw driver, or something similar, through the mesh grille and push the lever up releasing the bonnet
- Now place the new bumper close to the front of the car and connect the bumper wiring harness to the multi-plug socket
- Check that the fog lights and indicators work before proceeding! The external temperature sensor may also display -30 degrees C but don’t worry as it will return to normal once everything is done
- Offer up the bumper and secure it to the body with the nine cross headed black screws
- You may wish to check the shut line before proceeding. Mine was quite large so using some plastic slide binders (available in Rymans) I packed short lengths under the leading edge of the new bumper and tightened the nine screws. I now have a perfect shut line but time will tell whether this will cause any distortion or damage. You may be lucky and the shut line will be acceptable without resorting to this
- Push the bumper ends firmly inwards and push the fir tree clips home
- If you have replaced the wheel arch liners and engine under tray replace the three cross headed screws at the front of each wheel arch and the four quick release screw fasteners securing the bumper lower edge to the engine under tray
- Not having wheel arch liners or a new engine under tray I found the holes in the new bumper didn’t marry up so I resorted to securing the bumper with two black cable ties each side to the to the front brake air ducts. If you don’t these will flap down and rub along the road at any speed above 30mph. I dispensed with securing the bumper to the engine under tray. This won’t please the purists but with dark blue paint work the ties are all but invisible. Yes, there is a gap at the bottom of each bumper between it and the wheel arch liner and I’m working on how I can seal this
- Wash and leather off your hand marks and stand back with a well earned cup of tea admiring your new look Rover 75

Finally, having run the car along the motorway at 70mph it all seems to be holding together so far.

Highline Issue (Seems dead)

One of the things that had irked dad about his 75 is the fact that the previous owner helped himself to pretty much the entire Highline system before selling the car on, leaving him with just the head unit.

Does having none of the equipment installed prevent the head unit from switching on? Because it appears to be totally dead, as if there's no power getting to it. I've checked for loose connections at the back, but it all seems pretty solid.

Any thoughts?

Hi All,
My wife's daily commute is a 2010 LE500, 19,000 miles, recently acquired, and struggles to get over 31 mpg.
15 miles ew each day. half country roads and half urban, air con all the time.
The TF 135 with 62,000 on clock that this car replaced always did mid 30s in same usage..
Are we hoping for too much out of the N series engine.

R800 CPE When is a Coupe, Not a Coupe?

Q: When is a Coupe, Not a Coupe?

A: When it's a Hyundai Hatchback!

I had to abandon my car the other week but I did get a ride in an ambulance
anyway just went to get a clip off my gopro camera and to my surprise some old videos on there, as soon as I played the first one, before I had chance to think, 'oh this is from that day', the following car appeared in shot!

Even before I ever owned my first Coupe I used to delight in saying to Hyundai owners, "somebody's stuck a coupe badge on your hatchback!"

So own up which one of you stuck your plates on this one!

they have no rear headroom in them by the way. I sat in one once to see.
