ECU knackered. Replacement required.

Help, please.

Tried to get the ECU fixed but prices are ridiculously high, about £200 + VAT.

Before I purchase from Ebay, can anybody advise me which parts I need. The part number of the ECU on my DEC 2000 X plate steptronic MGF is NNN100783. When I enter that into the search on Ebay there are various options (auto/manual/ other models using the same ECU). I believe that the item listed by Willotts Ltd at reference 231673045979 for £44.99 is probably sufficient to solve my problem, but I'm not absolutely sure as some of the other items for sale have more (or less) included in the package.

Will the one from Willotts do it???????

T16 MG ZR 2.0 Turbo

Hi All
Just Introducing Myself....
My Name Sam and ive owned MG's since i got my licence.... Started with a few 1.4 then moved to a 1.8 VVC.... Ive owned many different automobiles lol including VW's and BMW's and SAAB's and i always end up back where i started!

For the feeling of driving, owning and working on i haven't found anything close to my long list of MG ZR's.... some my laugh i dont really care tbh for me its how it makes me feel!

So this time i wanted something a little more powerful close to the M3 i owned back in 2014. There was only one option... T16 Conversion!

So I spent 2 months deciding weather to build my own or carry on trawling the classified till i found a nice one. Well my efforts payed off as last week i went down to Cornwall (from preston) nice 13 Hour coach trip lol..... And now have it on my drive.... body is a stranded MG ZR + Facelift in Trophy Blue with 65K... The engine was fitted by a TVR specialist will full repciets and the owner was a nice old gent who owned it for 2 years and only put 2000 Miles on the engine and car! fully bored out and brand new turbo!.... She still needs a little work... Mainly its running a decoded 220 ecu which needs to be binned and replaced with something a bit more customise-able.

She really does purr nice with a full custom stainless system fitted 3 months ago! and had uprated head gasket and new water pump in late 2014.

I wanted to introduce myself as there may be times i might need some of you guys to help me thought my endeavour of getting this blue demon how i want her to be.

Photo's will be uploaded soon

Sat Nav Issue...HELP?!?

Sat Nav Issue...HELP?!?

Hi, recently purchased a 2013 MG 6 GT TSE but have an issue with the Sat Nav. Long story short, the Sat Nav box that came with the car says Europe 2011 maps for which I have contacted Navteq for the activation code for, however, the SD card that I found in the car system is for Europe 2013. Navteq tell me that the card has never been registered with my car (going by Device ID). The problem I have is that I have an activation code for the Europe 2011 maps but have the 2013 maps. I am presuming that it would be simple enough to copy the 2011 maps onto the SD card that I have as I would still need my 2011 activation code to use them. MG main dealers are not being very helpful and are all scratching their heads wondering what to do. Would anybody know where I could possibly download a copy of the 2011 maps, or could somebody teccy who is using the 2011 maps and has a card reader copy the files and send them to me? I would forever be in your debt!!

MG opens it's newest dealership in Ayr, Scotland.

MG opens it's newest dealership in Ayr, Scotland.

A well established dealership, with over 100 years in the business, is the latest to join the MG Motor UK dealer network and work with the manufacturer to boost the newest model.

Walter Bryson and Peter Bryson, Joint Directors of Brysons Car Centre in Ayr, were brought into a family-run business which started with their Grandfather back in 1902. Whilst the original site was smaller, they still operate out of the same area in Prestwick.

Having such a long history is a huge benefit for Brysons Car Centre, as they are very well known in the area and have a strong customer base. The dealership has predominately focused on selling used cars, however it was recently decided that they needed to move back into new car sales.

Walter is already extremely confident that the MG line-up will suit their current customers, but he is also hoping that new and younger customers will pop in. He said: “We’ve had eight models delivered to the sales centre, including the new MG GS, and, despite the fact we’ve not officially launched yet, we’ve had a lot of people drop by to take a look at the new arrivals.

“MG is a great franchise that is developing and growing, we’re really looking forward to working with the brand to build on sales.”

Brysons Car Centre will be having its official launch this weekend (Saturday 2nd to Sunday 3rd July) where the public will get a chance to take a look at the full MG range as well as check out the great offers that will be available.

Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing for MG, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Brysons Car Centre to the network. It’s always great to bring onboard a dealership with such a long history. It’s a great foundation for building a strong and successful dealership on and we have every confidence that our relationship with them will grow to be just as strong.”

ZS 180 not decelerating

After driving steadily for a while e.g. on a motorway if I lift off the car carries on with no change, maybe decelerating after several seconds. If I dip the clutch while it is carrying on, no matter if I do it straight away or several seconds after decelerating, the revs drop after about a second. This is also noticeable when it doesn't carry on i.e. even with 'normal' deceleration it takes about a second to start slowing down.

Some years ago I had the idle surging, and stalling when I dipped the clutch to change down e.g. for a corner, and racing, so removed and cleaned the idle control valve and it was fine for a long time, until now.

There is no apparent stickiness in the throttle cable or the quadrants on the throttle body.

No warning lights.

I can't get my head round why the revs drop after dipping the clutch - unless there are switches on the clutch and the throttle to the ECU I'm not aware of. Any ideas?

I have been told you can get a stainless sports exhaust to fit my mgf 1996 but do not know where to go for best price/quality. I live in Northwich cheshire.
I also am prepared to buy a bog standard one if its too expensive.

Has anyone seen my old ZR?

Hey guys it's been a long time since I was on here and I left when I sold my ZR to buy a ford smax some 2years ago... I have always missed my ZR since parting with it and recently done a dvla check to find out its still taxed and mot'd so I'm asking anyone who has any knowledge on it in hopes to trace it and maybe buy it back? The registration is kx04dzk and it was in the gun metal grey colour and it was the 5 door 120+ spec...

Thanks guys and fingers crossed

RIP Denzel

Well, having owned Denzel for 5 years, and never taking him over 3k revs until up to temp, I'm gutted to have to report sludge in the expansion bottle :-(

The coolant used to be a lovely clear pink, but the coolant warning light came on last week one morning, then I didn't see it again. So at the weekend I thought I'd top it up, and was met with the site of a light brown sludge in the bottle, along with swirly rainbow patterns on the surface.

Is this a definite sign of HGF, or do I need to look elsewhere before confirming that diagnosis?

I'd love to take advantage of EuroCarParts' 30% off sale until midnight on Thursday to order the parts, so if it is HGF is this all I'll be needing:

Head Gasket Kit
Oil
Oil filter
Coolant
Something to help flush the gunk out the system?

Thanks in advance for any advice,

heated rear screen relay

hello everyone. Just bought a 1996 b r green mgf. Then I started buying toys for it !
Anyway one toy was a new / old hardtop. I bought a heated rear windscreen kit from rimmer bros' which include instructions to fit the relay but they are just kiddy pics really.
I cannot for the life of me find the attachment to fit the relay to underneath the steering wheel and in the fuse box. Some forums say its taped up but i cannot find it.
I have found however a grey block with orange and white wires just hanging there but this does not fit. Is it for the airbag as the steering wheel has been messed with and painted with some sticky black sort of paint?
What colour block am i looking for to attach the relay?
what is the grey block for?

I hear from comments here that SAIC under-invest in the UK and may not be around indefinitely. It's not the impression I get. I think Asian business practice is different to Europe and pulling out of the UK would be an embarrassment. SAIC are a wealthy company and the UK assembly and sales operation is a tiny part of that. They can afford to stay, so why would they leave?

I just wrote a piece on SAIC in the UK. I would appreciate some expert critiquing on the article:

MGF 1.8 locked engine

First post and it's with a problem, sorry

I have a standard 1.8 engine which was running fine and I parked it up at home and switched off normally. The next day I tried to start it and there was a clunk as the solenoid kicked in and the lights on the dashboard dimmed

I checked and the battery voltage was dropping to 7 volts directly across the terminals and as I knew it had been allowed to go completely flat before I bought the car I ordered a new one and fitted it, this did the same but the voltage only dropped to 8 volts

I then checked and found some fur in the header tank coolant and the oil level had risen a bit so I diagnosed head gasket and presumed that the engine had leaked into a cylinder and was hydrauliced over night

I have started stripping it down and drained the oil (about half a litre of coolant came out first), drained the coolant with an amount of fur/slime and removed the plugs. Peering down the plugholes the pistons appear dry and ok

Having got the cambelt cover off I thought I would get the engine to the timing position before going further but.....

I cannot turn the engine either forwards or backwards

I am assuming that the starter has jammed in but am struggling to get the bottom bolt out at the moment is there anything else worth considering

and before anyone asks, yes it is out of gear

For this month we will have to assume it is 90% MG3 sales. I can't believe many 6 or GS will have been registered as one is on the way out and another on the way in. Even though I did win last month it was purely a finger in the air guess. Results will be out on Wednesday 6th so we will close Tuesday 5th at 10pm.

Homemade sports muffler

Made up a new muffler for my TF. I used three universal exhaust elbows, a cheap flow through muffler and the original inlets and outlets from an old rusty original muffler. Total costs were about 50 euros.

The sound is a deep but maybe a bit loudish growl. A chambered muffler would have given a bit more quiet and raspier sound so maybe I'll still try one of those some day

Hi

After many years without an MG (last was a '66 Midget that I sold in 2000), I took the plunge on Saturday and bought a 2003 MGTF 135 in X-Power Grey (black leather interior).

Dealer is doing a couple of jobs for me and giving it a new MOT, I'm due to collect it on Friday - this is going to be a long week waiting!!

Thailand and MG...

Thailand and MG...

Just back from a few weeks in Thailand (Hua Hin) - was amazed by the presence of MG out there (and Maxus vans in brand new show rooms..!) They are everywhere. Huge ads up all over the place - Bangkok airport, shopping malls, sides of buildings etc. Lots of MG3's all over the place - mostly sporting Union Jacks on the roof. MG 5 still advertised over there, although I didn't see any. Got chatting to one of the MG sales teams in the local shopping mall - so was able to sit in the new MG GS. Very smart in the flesh. Felt good quality all over, a big step up from the MG 6, although this was the top of the range four wheel drive version, which I don't think we're getting in the UK.

All the MG's out there have a badge on the back saying 'BRIT Dynamic' with a Union Jack - so clearly pushing the British Design angle.

Changing the IMG, is it doable?

All my question is in the title.
I know that lots of skilful mates here are going to chuckle with my silly question!
But I'm not a mechanic, even careful and meticulous.
Reading the Hayes manual, I see there are lots of hoses and sensors and bolts to get off in that operation. It doesn't look small beer...

But here are the facts.

My oil is clean & neat (changed 2 months ago) without any leak and without any smoky exhaust, a very steady 90°C temperature, and a good average 45/47mpg. So IMHO no HGF.

But the coolant has a little leaking problem when the engine is running (going down from maxi to mini within 1,000 km, but nothing sensible within 200 km) and no leak at all when remaining in the garage. No trace on the ground, no trace under the bonnet around the engine which is very dry & clean.

Moreover I see at the top level in the expansion tank around the edge of the coolant some sticky traces of old oil, but no evolution at all since I bought the car last year. I guess there may have been a HGF in the past (my 25 1.4 is now 14 years old) which was cured (maybe within the 3 years warranty), the HG changed, but the cooling system may not have been cleaned properly and the IMG not changed.

So I suspect now a little IMG failure and that a little coolant may go in the cylinder #1 (as indicated by Mat - DMGRS - on his IMG page), which could explain I can't see nothing outside.

Hence my question about changing the IMG (I have already got new black one). If necessary, I shall be helped by a old skilful friend (but not a mechanic by trade).
And I intend to clean the coolant system as well of course before renewing it.
What do you reckon?

Many thanks.

MG ZS MK2 Brake Sounds

Hi there, bought a 2005 facelift MG ZS back in January and its been great, no problems at all. But I probably have done 3000- 4000 miles since then!

The back caliper was grinding on one side so the wheel god really hot, but a tap with a hammer (i guess to release the slider and it was fine, insult me as you wish for that 'fix' haha)

But now my front ones are making a pulsating grinding noise when I brake at low speeds. No noise when I brake at any speed above 10mph, but as soon as i get below that they make a noise, the louder the harder I brake.

I'm really not the most mechanically minded person, what can I check? Or what is it likely to be? Pads need replacing?

Hi all from Greece

I'm glad to become a member in your community.
You have been a great help the last couple of months as I learned a lot "How To's" by Google searching. Almost every time Google directed me to this forum.

I'm a new and proud owner of a MG TF 160 (2004) Silver Starlight since the beginning of this year.
I needed to buy a "new" car this year and living in Greece didn't let me "choose" the kind of car to buy.
A 2 sit roadster (MG) is the one and only choice if one has this weather all year around.

I hope to learn a lot from you and at the same time contribute myself as best as I can to the community.

Cheers,

How much is it worth? MG ZT-T 260

A friend is looking to sell his ZT-T 260 SE, but has no idea how much to sell for. Things like Autotrader valuation reckon about £1,000, which is frankly hilarious. He doesn't really do the internet much, so I'm finding out for him.

I've had a look, but there are very few adverts for ZT-T 260s, one in 2014 with similar mileage was listed for £6k. So, for those who know these things, what sort of price should it be advertised at?

ZS Td Acceleration Problem

ZS Td Acceleration Problem

Hello, again. Hope you're all keeping well. I'm not mechanically minded so please forgive my basic explanation:

My '04 ZS Td 180 has recently developed a problem - I can't accelerate when the revs are below 2500 rpm minimum. Foot to the floor, no more power comes. If I rev up to 3000 rpm+ and engage a gear I can move and accelerate as long as the revs don't drop below 2700 rpm and I can continue to accelerate in the new gear - slowly up to 3000 rpm, after which the throttle is 'livelier' and acceleration swifter (more like it used to be) around 3500 rpm.
Usually I can change gear around 2200 - 2500 rpm and accelerating isn't an issue.

Some recent history:
Two weeks ago - Front exhaust section replaced at garage.
This Thursday - Workmates thought the exhaust was blowing. One covered the tail pipe with his hand several times, asking me to listen for hisses. I heard none.
This Friday - There was a major thunderstorm and torrential downpour overhead. The following morning the problem began. Could water damage be a cause?

I'm already booked back in at the garage on the 4th for other jobs, but it would be very helpful if I could identify the issue before that.
As ever, thanks for your time and help.

420d Tuning Questions

Hello!

I have a 1999 420d, it's the non intercooled model with mechanical injection.

I've been told that I can't do any digital tuning as the ECU won't recognise it, such as digimafam or tuning boxes.

So far I've done an EGR delete, i've ordered a stock intercooler, later model turbo and decat pipe.
I'm finding it very hard to get hold of an aftermarket back box for this car.
I'm assuming anything from the 45/ZS hatchback will fit?

I've been told that I need to increase the air intake, and then increase the fuelling. I know this can be done with the max fuel screw, but I also want to upgrade the injectors, and been told that I would also need to upgrade the fuel pump.

Can anybody recommend an upgraded fuel pump? And also if anybody knows where I can get a less restrictive back box from, please let me know.

Any extra information on tuning these models with mechanical injection would be great appreciated.

Worrying development soon after MOT

One of my wheel bearings has been steadily moaning for a few months recently getting louder. Turning the steering wheel had a minor affect on the noise so I bought a front bearing and a rear one just in case as the noise seemed to come from the rear. Today I jacked up the front of the car spun and rocked the wheels and all was solid, with no noise. Tried the rear off side and horror of horrors, the wheel was rocking badly. Wheel off and caliper and hub nut undone the rear hub bearing collapsed, leaving the race on the stub axle. Also one brake pad had separated and the disc was badly corroded. Another £ 75 at Eurocar parts for pads and discs. The MOT was only done at the end of April. Can a bearing destroy itself that quickly. Glad I looked anyway.

Mg zs 180 radiator

Hi all,

Could anyone tell me the difference between the aircon radiator and non air con radiator for an mg zs 180 please?

I will be deleting the aircon sometime in the future so wondered if I could fit an aftermarket alloy radiator with slimline fans?

Thanks,
Connor.

Shock absorber bushes

When I took my 2004 TF Spark for it's last MOT I got an advisories saying that the lower bushes on the front and rear nearside shock absorbers were slightly worn. I was a bit surprised by this as I had Bilstein shocks (Comfort Pack) fitted only 5 years and 20k miles ago in place of the OE ones.

Does anyone know whether you can get replacement bushes for the Bilsteins and, if so, how easy are they to fit?

I know Mike Satur do them for the OE shocks but would these fit the Bilsteins?

Ok as promised to Unsavoury here is the pictures of my tinted 3 ringers compared to the tinted 4 ringers on a nice looking red TF that parks close to me at work. Curiously enough, the owner has re-badged it to a 180, not sure if the performance exhaust gives that much more, maybe he has remapped and put in a 52mm TB and maybe an induction filter..but still not convinced it gives that much more under the boot!

Universal soft roof rack.Any real world users?

Just before I sold my 75 saloon I picked up some UPVC french doors with it.The two doors stripped of hinges and handles went in the boot with the seats down and stuck out about 8" .We then tie wrapped two blankets around the top and bottom of the frame and placed it over the car.The top bit we ratchet strapped through the rear windows down to the roof and the bottom landed on the boot and we ratchet strapped that to the tow-bar.Which has now made me think about getting some of these for what ever car I get next.
Any experience of these?
Not from this source obviously.

ZR 120 What to do ??

Going to be buying a Trophy Blue ZR 120 next month has 60K and has had the head gasket and water pump already done in january

Was wondering what the best things to do to it would be to get a little more out of it and to keep it in its best health really love these cars and i am coming from a 04 MK1 105 which had a stripped interior induction kit and decat

The new car is going to be a 5 door so stripping it again is out of the question was just wondering what the best things to do would be that won't cost the earth or effect the life of the car

Thanks guys

The linkage moving the 4 horizontal flaps broken (very little and weak piece of plastic) a vent from ebay coming just for few quids but delivery to Rome makes the tot cost 30£, so I got the decision to make e new one in aluminium.
I spent approx 1 hour with my chinese micro-milling machine and this is the result ... it works.
The alu part has to have the same dimensions of pls piece due to several dimensional constraints, 37,5*9mm* th 1,5 mm, 4 holes dia 1,9 mm at a pitch 10.5 mm.

New MG range brochure received through the post

Today I received an MG range brochure through the post. Funny thing is I didn't request it. I have recently downloaded the MG GS brochure off their website and must have entered my address details to enable this.

The brochure itself is of reasonable quality and actually quite pleasant. However, while it describes itself as a range brochure, it is little more than a mash up of MG6 and MG3 brochures with NO mention of the GS!

What also surprised me was the dismal way it was presented:

A scruffy hand written label (I've blanked my address), flimsy clear plastic bag and no letter - and this has come from MG HQ and not a local dealer. I wouldn't normally be drawn to comment in this way but I'm amazed by how unprofessional this interaction is.

The oil change interval is described as "long" at 6,000 miles!

0-60 was just under 15s.

Rover 45 alarm

I've got a W reg Rover 45 diesel that I use off-road on some land of mine. On two occasions recently I've gone to use it and the battery has been completely flat because the alarm has gone off and drained it. Apart from driving people mad when it goes off - fortunately it's in a fairly remote spot - it's obviously a damn nuisance when it won't start.

I was wondering if there is a relatively easy way to deactivate the alarm? The car isn't taxed and insured, it's used purely off-road, so there are no security/insurance implications - and it won't matter if certain other things are disabled in the process. Any suggestions?

Hi all
ATS have an offer on of £30 for an MOT till the end of the month so thought I would take them up on it. So the car went in on the 15th and failed on a wheel bearing. So booked it in with them for the 20 th. to be done. They phoned me at 11:25am to say the hub was also damaged and i need a new one, THEN HE SAID A NEW HUB WAS £250
I said a hub is only£55 - £65, he replied £250 was what he had been quoted.
I got the hub for £60 and they fitted it and I then had an MOT pass but he would not say who the quote was from for the £250
Want go my goat was he didn't give a dam that he had a quote 5 times the price of the part, If I had not known the price, say a old lady's car it would have been paid

Hi I have just had fitted an BMW E46 Tuner to my 2002 Rover 75

All seemed well when it started searching for TV channels but it doesn't seem to find any (The signal is quite good here), I left it searching for 20 mins or so.

Is the box I got faulty (there was a small rattle from something inside the unit) Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Managed to sort the new login out!!!!

I have replaced the rear discs and pads (subject of previous thread).

It seems I was lucky as the screws came out and the old discs came off easily.

The handbrake lever now requires lifting to it's fullest extent to hold the car from rolling.

I am happy to adjust it but wondered whether it will self adjust and is best left alone until it gets used to the new pads/discs.

I have the maintenance manual which makes no mention of a need to adjust the handbrake after replacing discs or pads.

Advice from the cognoscenti on here please.

MG need to sort out whoever does the website for them in the UK.

On the finance page it says the following:

*When your contract comes to an end, you can either:

- Pay the final payment (guaranteed future value) and keep your MG GS
- Hand your MG3 back with nothing more to pay - as long as you haven't exceeded your mileage and the condition is satisfactory
- Trade your MG3 in for a new MG model

Or at least get someone proof reading stuff before it goes live. Not the end of the world admittedly but does not always give the best impression.

Replacing front speakers.

So, the good weather and good tunes around this summer have conspired together and caused me to blow one of my front speakers. I need to replace them, I have the moulded tweeter and the larger door speaker. Do I need to cut them out, or can I just fit new speakers behind them? I have a fairly high powered Pioneer head unit, and may take the opportunity to add an amp too. Thoughts?

Great service from Ring Automotive

As I have 2 TFs and several other cars, the TFs often sit for weeks without use.

Anyone with a TF will tell you that the batteries drain over a period of time, so I had an optimate connected to each car to keep the batteries topped up. Unfortunately, I think that these tend to destroy the battery over time due to constant charging, even if it is only a trickle charge.

So, I wanted something a bit cleverer and ended up buying a Ring Automotive RSC608 and an RSC612.

They can analyse the batteries as well as charging, but most importantly, they can maintain the battery. The key feature for me is they stop trickle charging when the battery voltage reaches max and only switch back on when the battery voltage drops to a certain point. This should extend the life of the batteries.

Anyway, the chargers only came with croc clip ends and I wanted to permanently fix the leads to the batteries, so I sent an e-mail to Ring Automotive asking if they sold such leads and if not can I buy a set of standard leads for each charger. The leads themselves are unusual with bespoke connectors, so making some would be difficult.

Within a couple of hours Ring customer services sent me an e-mail saying that they didn't do the leads I wanted and also they didn't sell the standard leads separately. He then went on to say that he would, however, send me a set of leads for each charger as a goodwill gesture.

So, a big thanks to Ring Automotive as I received the leads 2 days after sending the e-mail.

Here are the chargers if anyone is interested.

Speedo stopped working

Hi all
Hope someone is able to help me.
I am from Denmark, and I am sorry for any incorrect English
I have been struggling a while with my speedo on my Rover 45 - 1,8 – 2001 – Petrol – LHD.
It simply does not work. All other meters (e.g. rev. counter) are working fine.

I have replaced the transducer twice, just to be sure.
I jacked up the car and checked the speedo drive mechanism, with the wheels spinning, and it is also working fine.
I have measured the wire from transducer to the speedo. No broken wire.
Now I replaced the whole instrument pack, but still no luck.
If I take of the plug from the transducer and measure the 3 wires in the plug the two of them are 12V??
Should the 3 wires not be: 12V, Signal and earth?

Hope someone have any good advice.
Thanks

Wrong gearbox??

I posted earlier about the gearbox in my grinding in 1st and 2nd, also reverse gears.

Anyway, had a look this evening....and I think I may have the wrong gearbox fitted.

As you can see from the photo, there is a gap at the bottom of the box, and looking round it, half the bolts are missing, as the holes don't line up with the block.

Its a 2003 1.6....or at least that's what it should be.....with the R65 box fitted. Again, I'm assuming its a Rover R65 box....cable clutch, breather on top next to switch.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Rover 45 electrical problem.

This may be a little long winded bear with me please. I have just bought a 2003 Rover 45 with the 1.8K. It was cheap as it had HGF. Its a decent low mileage example and i needed a car to get to work.

When i bought it everything worked besides the pint of coolant in the oil.

I disconnected the battery and repaired the HGF. I have reconnected the battery and with the ignition key in the first position i only get 2 lights on the dash. Battery warning light and oil pressure light. Nothing else works, lights, hazard warning etc etc.

I have checked all the fuses in the box by the battery. I have also tried 2 x batterys, 2 x new batterys in the key fobs etc etc. Im now totally stumped. I have 12.6 vdc at the battery. Any ideas? or the name of a good mobile car electrician in Birmingham?

Hi All,

Long term bike and car fan who owned a variety of sports cars and bikes in my yoof (Sprite, Alpine x 2, Triumph GT6, MGB GT) but little feet intervened! Now approaching my dotage so have bought a 49,000 mile 2004 MG TF 135 to satisfy my cravings and am delighted with it.

Seems mechanically fine and well cared for but am intending to have it serviced and fitted with a replacement cambelt, tensioner and water pump. Any recommendations for a mobile fitting service near Nottingham please?

MG tf will not start

Went to start my 2005 MG TF 1.8 yesterday, initially turned on the ignition and everything functioned correctly, however before starting the engine, I turned off the ignition and turned it back on again. This time, all that happens is that the radiator fan runs, with no instrument panel warning lights, no fuel pump prime and no starter motor.
Things that do work are, horn, theft alarm, lights, cigar lighter, radio and hazard lights. I have nothing working via the ignition switch except the radiator fan. I have checked all under the bonnet fuses and in car fuses and all seem intact, I have also checked and recharged the battery and also disconnected and reconnected the battery but the issue remains the same.

Unfortunately, since upgrading to Windows 10, I am unable to use my XPart MG TF Workshop Manual to assist me as I can't access any wiring diagrams to trouble shoot my problem.

Can anyone help me either with wiring diagrams and or suggestions on what the specific issue could be please...

Many thanks in advance Bob

Its most always at low speed. I took it to my local garage who changed the brake pads but its still doing it. They are baffled. Even more baffling, is the face that it doesn't happen all the time AND, sometimes its worse than others. Fuel Pump Type

Hi,

I have a Rover Metro Kensington 100, with a 1.1i single point fuel injected. I need to get the fuel pump replaced in the fuel tank and wanted to know what types of pump I could use?

Would appreciate any feedback,

Kind Regards,

Kensington 100

I'm new to the forum and thought I would share my Rover "Rev" 45. (It was owned by a reverend ) I hope all the like minded Rover fans out there appreciate her she gets cleaned and waxed every 3 or 4 days. She's gleaming and I'm so proud to drive her what do you guys think?

Rover 25 roof lining HELP!

Hi recently my roof lining has sagged and I was wondering what I can do to fix this. It would be too expensive for me to get a new lining fitted, I was wondering could I use super glue by pin *****ing a few holes around it to make it stick back to its usual place or would this make things worse, thank you

Hello

Hi all,

I have just joined this site as I am a great MG fan, I have owned 1 x midget, 1 x MGB roadster, 1 x MGB GT, 2 x MG TF and 2 x MGF.

I have recently purchased the second MGF and I am very pleased with it, having said that we have had torrential rain all weekend in sunny South Wales and I noticed that the driver’s seat is very wet this morning which doesn’t sit well (excuse the pun) when wearing cream chinos to the office!

I think I will be calling up on the skills in the forum for advice on how to adjust the seals and hood as it seems to be coming from the area at the front of the drivers window where it meets the hood and the top of the B pillar.

I look forward to engaging with this site.

Hello

Libellés :

Hello Everyone

Hi, just found this site after many years of BL/MG Rover ownership. Now that I am retired I have more time to work on the cars and find useful sites like this

Past cars have included an 1100, Marina, Montego, MG Maestro, MG ZR and an MG6. Current "fleet" consists of MGZTT 260, Midget and MG3. I have just finished restoring the Midget ('74 - 1275cc), which I have owned since 1976, and now will spend more time keeping the ZTT in top condition.

Looking forward to help and discussion via the forums

Mike
